I see their faces. That practiced, toothpaste commercial smile they flash right before they stick their hand in my pocket. I know their names better than I know my own neighbors because they are everywhere. On my TV. In my mailbox. Begging for my vote while they have already sold it to the highest bidder.

You, Senator with the $2,000 haircut. You have never pumped gas in your life, have you? You have never stared at a refrigerator and done the math on whether eggs or insulin matters more this week. But you will stand there in your tailored suit, looking down at me like I am the one who does not understand how the world works.

And you, Congressman with the moral compass of a hungry shark. You took that check from the oil company, then turned around and voted against clean water for my kids. You took that speaking fee from the pharma lobby, then killed the bill that would have capped my mother’s heart medication. You sleep fine. You sleep great. You have got pillows stuffed with our futures.

You call it public service. I call it legalized robbery with a pension plan.

You shake hands with factory workers and tell them you are fighting for jobs, then go home and trade stock in the very companies that shipped those jobs overseas. You kiss babies and cut food stamps. You quote Scripture and arm dictators. You wrap yourself in the flag while you auction off the country piece by piece.

And the worst part? You know we know. You just do not care. Because what are we going to do? Vote? We do. Every time. And you are still there. Still smiling. Still taking. Still lying.

You are not a leader. You are a leech with a law degree. You are not a patriot. You are a predator who figured out how to wear a tie while you eat.

I do not just dislike you. I despise you. Not because you are evil. Evil takes effort. You are just empty. A suit full of ambition and zero soul, drifting from donor to donor, leaving wreckage behind you like a storm that does not even know it is raining.

You want my respect? Earn it. You want my vote? Deserve it. You want my tax money? Come and take it, but do not you dare tell me you are doing me a favor.

Because I see you. I see you. And one day, enough of us will see you clearly enough to make sure you never hold a microphone again without answering for every single dollar you stole, every promise you broke, every life you treated like a line item.

Rules:
1. Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And no more perks go with them.
2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise at the same rate as the COLA for monthly Social Security recipients minus 1% if having a budget balance deficit.
5. Congress loses their current care system and participates in the same health care system (Medicare) as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor and privilege, NOT a career.
The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies. Term limits of 2 terms and treat them like a regular citizen!
