Developed through exchanges at Science Gallery Bengaluru, this trilingual glossary brings together multiple words through which one might know the river Kaveri. Multiple words—scientific, cultural, historical, legal, and ecological show how meanings, like rivers, are shaped by time, use, and power. The result is not a definitive account but a layered, unstable, and live dialogue through our shared attention.
The glossary has been developed through a series of conversations initiated at the River Landscapes Workshop conducted between 10 - 14 February 2025. Organised by support from Pro Helvetia and We are Awareness in Art, participants and contributors have worked towards creating new conceptions and representations of fluvial landscapes.
Find the glossary at the link in bio.

This year, we're doing something new at @e_sampada.
We're identifying 5 writers from the community and publishing their books.
The path is simple: write on Sampada. Be read. Be picked.

"It shows that early aircraft losses, which dominated international coverage, were only one part of a larger campaign that unfolded very differently over time and ended with the Pakistan Air Force outmatched, India establishing air superiority over significant portions of Pakistani airspace, and conducting precision strikes across the depth of Pakistan."
I create a web application where you can read random pages from old Kannada magazines, it's really fun and interesting. Give it a try. #kannada

https://t.co/SeVKAiKKwe (@e_sampada) was probably the first to publish podcasts in Kannada. Interviews with the likes of Purnachandra Tejaswi, G S Shivarudrappa, K S Nisar Ahmed, Kayyara Kinyanna Rai.
The series is now back, restored in some shape:

Friday fun: any higher-value infra project in the world than Indian HSR? Let's code it up, use AI to grab 60 biggest cities + distances, then Dijkstra's algo. Result: 1/3 the rail of China, and even at France/Spain speeds, all major cities connected at flight-competitive time 1/2
India's farms need phosphorus badly—it's what grows strong roots & boosts yields like in the Green Revolution. But 90% of it is imported. And now war in Iran blocks supplies, prices up 2x, kharif crops may be at risk.
My little write-up in Kannada on how natural farming can bring freedom from such dependence for our farmers:

The exploration in Uttara Kannada district was conducted along the west coast between Karwar and Bhatkal, covering regions such as Ankola, Bhatkal, Gokarna, and Kumta tehsils. The area was intensively surveyed with a focus on lateritic hill formations, where prehistoric sites were systematically investigated.
The findings revealed that both Mesolithic and Neolithic cultural remains occur on the tops of lateritic hills at elevations ranging from 30 to 120 meters. The Mesolithic assemblage comprised scrapers, points, borers, flakes, blades, cores, and fluted cores, with points being the most predominant. All tools were made of milky quartz and exhibited a brown patination indicating their association with primary laterite. Neolithic artefacts included celts and a mace-head made of trap rock.
In terms of site distribution, important Mesolithic sites in Ankola tehsil were identified at Belakeri, Bhavikeri, Hausa, Kanchibail, Shirgunji, and Sulerbail, while Tallan was the only Mesolithic site in Bhatkal tehsil. Mesolithic artefacts were also found at Gokarna and Mudangi in Gokarna tehsil. In Kumta tehsil, Mesolithic tools were discovered at Harnit, along with Neolithic artefacts at Kumta and Nilakonda. Additionally, a rock shelter at Mirjan yielded Mesolithic tools from its floor, further confirming the presence of prehistoric activity in the region.
@blrmetrotracker Thanks for all the work that went into tracking this phase. Looking forward to the rest of the phase and then the Orange line for the next decade. For sure the tracking ways will change with new tech coming in :)

Kind attention: Blockchain experts!
Are there volunteers who can help @BDAOfficialGok with designing a Blockchain based ‘Auction platform’ for auction of BDA sites and apartments which will ensure security and credibility?
Voluntary work would also save BDA from the tender and associated money and time.
Interested volunteers may contact BDA helpline: 9483166622. The window closes by 12th April. Kindly note.
👍😊

The 42 feet tall Karkala Gomateshwara, also known as the Shri Gommateshwara Statue, is located on a rocky hillock called Gommata Betta in Karkala.
Due to the region’s high rainfall, the 15th century CE monolith colossi has been subjected to significant environmental exposure over time. This had resulted in the accumulation of dust, dirt and thick moss growth on the surface, along with noticeable deterioration of the stone in certain areas. (1/2)
