Chikungunya is resurging in the Americas.
In this video, Dr. Sylvain Aldighieri (PAHO) explains what’s happening and how to protect yourself.

Under bare Ben Bulben's head
In Drumcliff churchyard Yeats is laid
An ancestor was rector there
Long years ago; a church stands near,
By the road an ancient Cross.
No marble, no conventional phrase,
On limestone quarried near the spot
By his command these words are cut:
On 14 December 1955, Ireland joined the United Nations. 🇮🇪🇺🇳
For 70 years, our commitment to the UN and its Charter has defined Ireland’s place among the nations of the earth.
The UN remains humanity’s greatest hope. We will continue working to make it so.
Uachtarán Michael D. Higgins has led the Irish nation with integrity, courage, and compassion.
Throughout his years in office and public life, he has championed the rights of communities, social justice, Ireland’s neutrality, and Gaeilge.
As Uachtarán, he has deeply valued our peace process, reaching out to all who call this island home.
On the international stage, he has demonstrated unwavering courage, particularly in standing against the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
While many world leaders remained silent, the Irish people were filled with enormous pride as our President stood firmly for the rights of the Palestinian people.
When the history books are written, there is no doubt that Michael D. Higgins will be remembered as one of Ireland’s great Presidents.
Go raibh míle maith agat, President Higgins, and to the wonderful Sabina, for your distinguished years of service to the Irish nation.
Wishing you and your family a happy and peaceful retirement. 💚

On this #WorldHumanitarianDay, our message is clear: violence against humanitarian workers, including volunteers, must stop.
The deaths must stop.
No one should be harmed for trying to save lives.
Yet, attacks on humanitarians have reached unprecedented levels, and they are still rising.
In 2024 overall, 32 volunteers and staff of National Red Cross Red Crescent Societies lost their lives while on duty. Since the beginning of 2025, 18 more have been killed. They were all local - volunteers and staff of our National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Every humanitarian killed is a lifeline cut.
Those who are helping others must never be targeted. They should always be able to return safely to their families.
One life lost is far too many. At the IFRC, we stand together to #ProtectHumanity.
To those with power and influence.
Last year, we called on you to act:
🔴Respect the rules of war.
🔴Protect humanitarians and civilians.
🔴End impunity.
Nothing changed.
How much more suffering will you ignore?
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we urge you to #ActForHumanity – now.
The Geneva Conventions, adopted 76 years ago today and ratified worldwide, are the backbone of international humanitarian law. They:
🔹 Protect those who are not or no longer fighting.
🔹 Save lives and reduce suffering.
Even in armed conflicts, humanity must prevail.
