This is not Bihar, This is Not UP, This is not Rajasthan but Unemployed youth trying their luck during a job opening in a private hotel in Bharuch district, Gujarat.
Sadhguru started having a headache since 1st week of March.
He neglected it.
He even attended and performed at Maha Shiva Rathri night on March 8.
His headaches got worse.
He neglected it.
A week later headaches became excruciating. On 15th March he checked himself into a hospital.
The neurologist identified a large few weeks old bleed in the brain and areas of new bleed.
Emergency admission and management advised.
Sadhguru neglected it because he had India Conclave Meeting to attend.
Two days later, after he started losing consciousness and losing control of one limb, he checked in again with the Neurologist.
Right after admission his consciousness worsened and new CT scan showed brain swelling and compression of brain against the skull.
Sadhguru then said "Now is the time to operate."
Emergency medical science and skilled surgical intervention saved him.
I hope he recovers well, and wish him the best.
Remember we are all human.
It was very foolish of Sadhguru and especially his advisors to neglect the doctor's advise and convert this easily controllable situation into a life threatening one.
I learned it the hard way when I had a near fatal accident.
Don't make your work your life.
Consciousness means "bloody hell listen to your doctor." Nothing else.
Deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
Crux :
A girl had come with acute abdomen and despite treatment, has succumbed to the illness. Relatives cry negligence. Their first complaint - drs injected in the neck and the patient died later. Their second complaint - only resident doctors saw the patient.
1. Can a patient with acute abdominal pain require an injection in the neck ?
YES.
Common example in my field - Diabetic ketoacidosis.
A jugular venous catheter (see pic in 1st comment) is placed to get vascular access and even monitor venous pressure. Through the catheter , medications can be given. It's not inserted for no reason.
2. Only resident doctors saw the patient..is this standard practice?
YES.
This is the standard practice in teaching hospitals across the world. Because of the very nature of medicine, no promise can be made regarding the outcome, even in elective surgeries. The age of the treating doctor is not sufficient grounds to claim negligence, even if the outcome is negative.
So how can we know if there was a lacuna in care ?
We have systems in place to detect deficiencies in care. It's called Morbidity & Mortality meeting. Doctors analyse the circumstances surrounding the death and check if all standards and protocols have been followed. Following protocols doesn't mean no one will die. It just means doctors took the conventionally accepted best course of action under the circumstances.
A two minute sensational video clip is not a substitute for dispassionate scientific analysis..media trial is not a substitute for Mortality meeting. In fact, it's potentially harmful - as it destroys public faith in hospitals and doctors.
A media trial is low on details and high on emotions. For every death in a govt hospital, thousands more are saved. This is NOT to suggest that one death, if caused by negligence, be brushed under the carpet just because a 1000 more are saved. One death caused by negligence is still too many.
What it means is media can't be the aribiter of negligence. Nor can the misinformed public be the sole judges. Every unfortunate death that is turned into a referendum on the intention /action of doctors is not just unfortunate, but irresponsible.
Let sanity prevail.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission has suddenly woken up to the fact that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) like mefenamic acid (mostly prescribed in short term for painful period cramps) causes a side effect called as DRESS syndrome (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms), a condition first described in 1936 (!!!) from treatment due to anti-serizure drugs
I am not sure which joker thought this has to be a news piece because the whole country is now panicking on this absolutely nonsense alert on one of the safest drug out there on a side effect that is literally not reported in published literature from India.
DRESS syndrome is a well known BUT extremely extremely rare (yes I used two extremely's) adverse event associated with painkillers such as mefenamic acid
The most common drugs that lead to DRESS syndrome are anti-seizure medications (almost 50% cases reported world-wide) such as carbamazepine, phenytoin and phenobarbitone, antibiotic such as minocycline and the drug given for gout, called allopurinol. Carbamazepine anti-seizure drug has been reported to be implicated in most DRESS cases world over - 27% of all reported cases!
https://t.co/7VbXYYHlXR
NSAID causing DRESS syndrome reported world-wide makes hardly 3-5% of cases (WORLDWIDE!)
- of this, indomethacin (a painkiller that is seldom used nowadays) is most commonly implicated, not mefenamic acid.
https://t.co/7P0dFJgPPy
Fact:
Published reports of mefenamic acid causing DRESS syndrome from Asia - ZERO.
Published reports of NSAID group of drugs overall causing DRESS syndrome in India - ZERO.
Published reports of the NSAID drug mefenamic acid drug causing DRESS syndrome in India - ZERO.

More facts:
Published reports of Ayurvedic drugs with heavy metal contamination - LITERALLY >100s OF CASES Published reports of Ayurvedic drugs with Lead contamination - LITERALLY >50 OF CASES
Published reports of Ayurvedic Giloy herb causing liver injury and liver failure in India >250 CASES.
Published reports of Ayurvedic Ashwagandha causing liver injury and liver failure in India ~ 10 CASES.
Where is the safety alert on these?
I have no idea what the drug regulation system in India has become. It has become the joke of the century. Looks like a one-trick pony favoring traditional medicine over scientific medicine. Shame!
‘We are living in denial..’ Israel’s leading columnist Gideon Levy does what few journalists in our country would ever do. Tell truth to power. And keep asking tough Qs without fear of being branded ‘anti national’ because as he tells me journalists must keep asking questions of ALL governments. Stay anti establishment!! Listen in.

Absolutely brazen.
Two of the Indian Audit and Administrative Service (IA&AS) officers who were transferred were in charge of the audit reports that exposed corruption in the Dwarka Expressway project and Ayushman Bharat.
