@Devon_Eriksen_ If Socialists spent half as much energy founding worker co-ops as they do complaining about how people are allowed to own private businesses, I might take them seriously.
They don't want to build their Utopia. They want it handed to them by a magnanimous dictator.
@Aella_Girl I think that's true for nearly everyone. Therein lies the difficulty.
The ultimate government is a dictatorship by a brilliant, just, wise, kind, brave despot.
But good luck finding one, let alone electing him.
@PhilWMagness Most billionaires are load-bearing.
If you remove them, large sections of the economy collapse.
There's some nepo baby millionaires we could do without. But 99% of billionaires are billionaires because we depend on them.
@kendrictonn Fascinating to see atheists in 2026 making exactly the same jeers that people on Calvary did.
Do they really think the Bible has no response to the things the sinners in the Bible said?
@eigenrobot "Sorry got you fired and smeared you as an irredeemable sexist in a dozen major magazines for wearing a shirt with sexy women on it and have never apologized for it (and still won't!)
I really learned my lesson good. Let's adjust! Can we be friends?"
@eigenrobot The problem is that woke was essentially "let's lie about reality and use political and social capital to destroy the lives of our friends, neighbors, and coworkers who disagree to try to build Utopia."
You can't just put the mask back on after taking it off like that, sorry.
@Aella_Girl Or perhaps we can find some way to make an aligned AI be our philosopher king. At the peril of extinction if we get it wrong.
Same problem, really. How do we find an "aligned" politician?
@Aella_Girl I think we have to accept the fact that the philosopher kings are not our saviors. We couldn't reliably elect them if they ran. And if they got elected they'd be betrayed or killed by dumber, more evil people.
We must simply settle for a decent, average government instead.
@wojtekszkutnik@lsflektarn@Devon_Eriksen_ These are for buildings and rooms that lack AC, which is what everyone in Europe is suddenly claiming not to have.
Mini splits, vent, and central units are obviously better. But in their absence, my point is that you're $100 away from an alternative solution.
@M0bydick2@wojtekszkutnik@lsflektarn@Devon_Eriksen_ 1- voltage adapters exist
2- air conditioning has existed for 120 years, how could they not have units for European outlets? Half the brands we have here are European brands. They sell them on Amazon:
@CoastEnjoyer I vote to raise taxes on other people while eliminating taxes for me and everyone reading this.
Let's take a vote: all in favor? All opposed?
@kitten_beloved The real question is "did he request that his PM give him engineering capacity to permanently fix these problems every quarter for 3 years and got told 'no' every time?"
That's the difference between a hero and a liability.
@eigenrobot Trump is a weird case for conservatism. His claim is basically that we had things right & then changed stuff & now it's worse
So it's a form of retroactive conservatism. RETVRN etc.
And then he just DOES things because he's bluffed his way this far in life & isn't stopping now.
@eigenrobot I think conservatism in general is just the belief that Things Today are currently better than the outcomes we get from social change On Average.
So attempting to change things then becomes more likely to make things worse than better, and you prefer stability as a result.
