A productive and insightful interaction with colleagues from St. Petersburg State University and the S.I. Vavilov Institute for the History of Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IHST RAS), including the Director of its St. Petersburg Branch.
Held under the CSIR–St. Petersburg State University Seed Funding Programme, the interaction focused on our joint research project and explored emerging opportunities for collaborative research and knowledge exchange.
The discussions highlighted avenues for deepening institutional partnerships and advancing collaborative research at the intersection of AI, renewable energy, sustainability and science policy.
A meaningful step towards strengthening institutional collaboration and fostering new opportunities in science, technology and innovation.

'विज्ञान प्रगति' के प्लेटिनम जुबली समारोह से पूर्व आज CSIR-NIScPR में आरंभिक कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यशाला में विद्यार्थियों ने विभिन्न ज्ञानवर्धक एवं रचनात्मक गतिविधियों में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। इस अवसर पर डॉ. गीता वाणी रायसम, निदेशक, सीएसआईआर-निस्पर ने प्रतिभागी बच्चों को विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में उच्च शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के लिए प्रेरित किया।
श्रीमती नेहा त्रिपाठी, विज्ञान लेखिका ने विज्ञान कविता लेखन एवं कार्टून पर बच्चों के साथ हैंडस आन गतिविधि आयोजित की। विद्यार्थियों ने विज्ञान क्विज 'जिज्ञासा' में उत्साह के साथ भाग लिया। वहीं डॉ. बी. के. त्यागी, पूर्व वैज्ञानिक-एफ एवं विज्ञान संचारक ने 'विज्ञान कथाओं की रोमांचक दुनिया' विषय पर विद्यार्थियों से संवाद किया और विज्ञान एवं कल्पना के रोचक संबंधों से उन्हें परिचित कराया। कार्यक्रम के अंत में प्रतिभागियों को प्रमाण-पत्र वितरित किए गए।

On the momentous occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director of the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR), hoisted the national flag. During the event, the institute's scientists, officers, staff, and research scholars reaffirmed their commitment to India's unity, integrity, and democratic values while singing the national anthem. The ceremony highlighted the role of science, technology, and innovation in the nation's development and called for collective efforts to realize the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India 2047). The occasion also featured captivating cultural performances by children, centered on the theme of patriotism.

The journey of transforming scientific knowledge into impactful public communication begins!
CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi, inaugurated the Skill Training Programme on "Popular Science Writing" today under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative (Phase III). The two-day program (6–7 August 2026) has brought together 21 enthusiastic participants comprising scientists, academicians, researchers, students, IT professionals, and R&D personnel from across India to strengthen their science communication and science writing skills.
Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director, CSIR-NIScPR, delivered the Inaugural Address and interacted with the participants, emphasizing the growing need for accurate, accessible, and engaging science writing to foster scientific temper and informed public discourse. She also mentioned that it is essential to build a rational society and communicate information about scientific research to the general public by linking it to real-life examples. Emphasizing this point, Dr. Rayasam highlighted the need and importance of popular science writing during the inaugural session.
The inaugural session was coordinated by Ms. Meetali Bharti, Nodal PI, while Mr. Mukesh A. Pund, Head, Training Division, CSIR-NIScPR, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of effective science communication in bridging the gap between research and society.
Dr. Manish Mohan Gore, Course Coordinator, provided an overview of the two-day program, introducing the participants to the comprehensive sessions on popular science writing, digital media, AI-assisted content creation, press release writing, ethical aspects, career opportunities, and hands-on exercises designed to enhance practical writing skills.
Through this initiative, CSIR-NIScPR continues its commitment to building national capacity in science communication by empowering professionals and young learners with the skills required to communicate science effectively to diverse audiences.

Empowering the Next Generation of Science Communicators!
The Skill Training Course on "Science Communication and Emerging Trends" commenced today at CSIR–National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi, under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative (Phase III). The two-day Program (4–5 August 2026) has brought together 30 enthusiastic participants comprising scientists, academicians, researchers, students, IT professionals, and R&D personnel from across the country to strengthen their science communication skills and explore emerging trends.
Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director, CSIR-NIScPR, delivered the Inaugural Address and interacted with the participants, inspired them to embrace innovation, responsible communication, and emerging technologies to make science more accessible and impactful.
Mr. Mukesh A. Pund, Head, Training Division, CSIR-NIScPR, emphasized on growing importance of effective science communication in bridging science and society. The inaugural session was seamlessly coordinated by Ms. Meetali Bharti, Nodal PI. Introducing the Program roadmap. Dr. Paramananda Barman, Course Coordinator provided an overview of the two-day training, highlighting expert-led sessions on science communication, social media, behavioral insights, AI, ethics, and hands-on learning to equip participants with contemporary communication skills.
Through expert interactions and practical learning, the Program aims to nurture a new generation of science communicators capable of effectively engaging diverse audiences in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

CSIR-NIScPR Joined Hands with the Office of CGPDTM to Strengthen Knowledge Access through NKRC
CSIR-NIScPR and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, signed a MoU on 15 July 2026 to strengthen access to global scientific, technical and intellectual property knowledge resources through the National Knowledge Resource Consortium (NKRC).
The partnership marks a significant step towards expanding access to world-class scientific literature, patent databases and digital knowledge resources. It will strengthen patent examination, support research and innovation, promote science communication and science policy research, and encourage greater collaboration in intellectual property management and digital knowledge services for the benefit of researchers, innovators and policymakers across the country.

A brainstorming discussion on “Inclusive Science Communication in the Digital Era: Priorities, Practices and Policies” was also organised after the MoU signing ceremony at NIAS.
Prof D K Srivastava, Prof Sanjay Srivastava, Prof Rajani M B, Prof Sisir Roy, Dr Anant Kamat and Dr V V Binoy, from NIAS, Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam, Dr Kasturi Mandal, and Dr @ParamBarman from NIScPR, Dr H S Sudhira from @gubbilabs and Dr Suryesh Namdeo, CSP, IISc shared their thoughts in the discussion. The meeting was quite enriching and insightful.
Salient discussion points of the brainstorming include encouraging trust in science, training science communicators and journalists, managing misinformation effectively, building a larger community of public intellectuals, strengthening science communication in schools, popularising citizen science, developing and implementing effective guidelines and promoting interaction among scientists, policy-makers and communicators.
