HOLY MOLY… this @trimet MAX train DID NOT STOP at the end of the line in Milwaukie, smashing into the barrier! Lots of damage to the sidewalk here. Not sure how many passengers were on board, but at least one with minor injuries #LiveOnK2#pdxtraffic
Me: “Say what you want about the pros and cons of light rail, but at least it can’t hit a boat.”
Traveling public: “Hold my beer.”

TRAIN VS BOAT! this MAX crash at NE 162nd & Burnside is with a boat on a trailer!! No car on scene, appears boat was parked on track, train ran over it. This will cause DELAYS if you ride MAX here. No word on why boatvwas there #LiveOnK2#pdxtraffic
Agreed! No need to lay tracks or spend $billions on infrastructure and property acquisition! We’re trying the same in #Portland—fingers crossed. https://t.co/bqywF9ubDZ
I have not heard one public official or Frog Ferry supporter mention the previous studies and specifically what factors have changed to make another worthwhile. Pls correct me if I’m wrong!
Those are basic Qs I would ask my own boss, unless of course I was offered $650k.
I heard we had a budget shortfall, so I’m sending the 2006 Ferry Feasibility Study to @tedwheeler. He’s planning on giving $200k of taxpayer money for a private business that hasn’t penciled our several times.
Thread:
Mayor Ted Wheeler's released his proposed city budget for the next year. SNORE, right? Wrong! Did you expect your tax dollars and fees to go toward a water taxi called Frog Ferry?https://t.co/mK0yV7b0eW
I love my new job for many reasons, but one is that I can technically walk to work, but I don’t like having to walk to work because the @trimet line 15 westbound is so unreliable now! 😰
MAX Blue Line toward Gresham delayed 13 minutes through 12:40 p.m., eastbound from Millikan Way, due to an earlier mechanical issue near Elmonica/SW 170th Ave.
@trimet, This the state of transit during rush hour. If we can’t add frequency of buses, please add capacity with bigger buses during peak hours. This is everyday between ~8-9am and 4-7pm on the #8. Ridership won’t increase if we don’t improve quality of service.
MAX Red Line trains will not be running on the west side or between Rose Quarter and Gateway Transit Center. Use Blue Line on the west side and Blue or Green Line between Rose Quarter and Gateway. Contact 503-238-RIDE (7433) for assistance.
Beginning at noon, all MAX lines will be disrupted due to a switch repair near Rose Quarter Transit Center. Shuttle buses will be running between Rose Quarter TC and Old Town/Chinatown, and between Interstate/Rose Quarter and Union Station.
What people say: Portland has good public transportation
Reality: trip planner says a train is coming in 5 mins, but it's really coming in 45 because @trimet is crap.
