@TrungTPhan They have such massive hardware adoption, they can fail (and have, as you documented) at this many times before the window is really closed.
@HunterBiden He has to grab every penny he can, however he can, and tuck in a pardon on the way out bc there isn’t a modicum of talent left in the gene pool.
I don’t really think it’s about me Karoline. I think it’s about the idea that we all have fallen down and that we all wish we could be a little kinder to each other. And we all hope for a little grace and understanding when we get honest with ourselves and the world. And we all have that friend or brother or parent or son that has fucked up but fought to get back on their feet. Or that may be you. Or it may be the one that lost the battle and we are mourning them every day- and asking why couldn’t he fight for himself. Whatever it is- it’s not about me. It’s about all of us. So I genuinely ask you to forget about me- and reach out to someone you love who is struggling and tell them you’ll fight alongside them if they will fight for themselves.
@jamesonhaslam Been involved in a few local businesses - many folks are tradesman who have branched out. They do not invest in broader portfolios or 401ks. They make more money one year? They buy a boat. They have a job, but don’t save bc they believe their job is a business.
I think we're on the verge of a golden age in cardio-metabolic health (thanks GLP1s!) and oncology (CAR-T, daraxonrasib, checkpoint inhibitors).
But let's be real about what average lifespans in the 100s would require.
The oldest documented person died 29 years ago. Jeanne Calment at 122yo. In 30 years, with all of the advances in medicine, NOBODY ELSE has even gotten to 120.
A life expectancy at birth of 110 years would require about 25% of women to live longer than Calment and about 6% of women to live past 150—three decades older than the record. (source: Olshansky et al).
This isn't even close to happening yet.
The good news is that we're getting better and better at eliminating death before 80. We're not (yet) getting any better at extending life beyond 110. Doing so will probably require advances that have nothing to do with GLP1s and cancer therapies. You basically need to build new bodies for humans.
