A Hudson delegation traveled to Ukraine to assess the state of the war and learn firsthand how the US can help Kyiv secure a just and lasting peace.
🧵 A thread featuring photos from the trip and key takeaways from @wrmead, @peterrough, and @RLHeinrichs.
I asked a local councillor if the russian refinery here in Ireland should be sanctioned.
He said yes, if it was supplying Israel.
But Russia? No.
This is Ireland’s sanctions hypocrisy in 90 seconds.
Bonkers video from earlier today in St. Petersburg, where Russian police try to shoot down a Ukrainian drone, while bystanders casually video the effort (and the burning oil terminal in the background).
Appreciated the opportunity to discuss key takeaways from a recent delegation visit to Ukraine at @HudsonInstitute.
Firsthand visits matter. Seeing Russia’s war up close and engaging directly with people living through it every day provides invaluable insights into the real situation and path to the end of the war.

Met with Romanian FM @oana_toiu following the reckless Russian drone strike on a Romanian apartment building. The violence must end before more innocent people suffer.
It’s both a great privilege and pleasure to join AGS -the most effective team on the field - led by the most capable leadership team in business and national security, dear friends @robertcobrien and @AlexGrayForOK! Thank you for the opportunity!
Senior government officials have warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that spending on the war in Ukraine is on an unaffordable path, the most serious sign of internal division in Moscow since the full-scale invasion began https://t.co/pt6izgUspJ
Barracuda maritime drones operated by Ukraine’s 40th Marine Brigade approach Russian positions and launched FPV drones from their decks during a special operation in Kherson region.
What makes the operation particularly notable is the use of multiple drones, each configured for a different role. One Barracuda was armed with unguided rockets, while another carried a retractable mast antenna designed to extend communications range for the FPV drones launched from the maritime platforms.
We stand with our NATO Ally Romania and condemn this reckless incursion on its territory. Our thoughts are with the injured in Galati. We will defend every inch of NATO territory.
Russians are deploying SAM systems onto glass high-rises in Moscow directly from helicopters. Specifically, the Pantsir-SMD SAM system is being installed on the building roofs. The system can engage targets flying at speeds of up to 1,000 m/s, detect targets at a range of 45 km, and track up to 40 targets simultaneously.
