@xander76 Definitely the right direction. One issue in NY state is areas very far north in the state can have power outages in the winter so almost all of the houses rely on natural gas for heating. If this passes many of these houses will need backup generators/batteries for emergencies.

They work really well for low income residents/migrants when they first come to the city. They’re cheap, optimize floor space and it’s frequently hot (above 30 degrees celcius) in the city meaning things like direct sunlight aren’t as required for residents.

I’ve been reading a lot about #UrbanPlanning and there so many great examples of when faced with a complex problem, leaving people to their own devices with minimal constraints usually produces the optimal outcome many would not have thought of.

One great example of this is Shenzen’s “Handshake Apartments”. They are blocks of apartments spaces incredibly close together (to the point you can jokingly handshake your neighbor). There was minimal zoning regulation at the time these were built.
