Asking the government to step in and "slow down AI" should carry a high burden of proof. What you're really asking is for billions of people to wait longer for progress: cures for diseases, fewer deaths on the road and in the air, better conditions in dangerous work like mining, lower grocery prices, etc.

So: what proof can a handful of billionaires actually produce to justify a cost that high, paid by everyone else?

Frontier models have cured zero of the most widespread diseases.

Autonomous cars and planes are barely deployed. A few thousand vehicles against 1.2 million road deaths a year.

Almost nothing has changed in unhealthy or dangerous jobs. Mining, construction, warehousing.

Grocery prices are high. Electricity prices are high.

On the other side, nothing relevant has happened at a scale that justifies freezing progress for everyone. And whatever things actually happen - they have to be weighted against the impact of slowing down progress for eight billion people. An inbound appointment gets scheduled based on a PO number. If that PO is wrong (load type, wrong reference, doesn't exist) someone has to catch it before the truck shows up.

Now every appointment gets validated automatically against your rules before it is scheduled.

Either an API if you want validation logic wired into your system, or a file-based option mapping your existing spreadsheet to a template, and the system keeps itself updated from there. No engineering lift required for the second path.

It's a narrow problem. It's also exactly the kind of check that should never require a manual intervention anymore.
