@BoBbyPleWniaK Would have been epic if he gave the whole thing the retail. Run it up for institutional books. Does this mean the order book for retail was 1T if they roughly gave everyone in retail 10-11% of their order?
It’s not a wild take. It’s interesting to see how close the open source models and all the things that go with it can get to, for the price of free. When people realize like Lindy did that 90%+ of the operations can be done open source that’s when Anth and oai will have to serious look at the pricing.
@PeterMcCormack@Dan_Jeffries1 He’s not wrong. Claude works really well for one offs for personal uses. If you’re trying to build something to scale outside of that you’re going to need a bigger boat. Be careful!
@sama@official_taches No throttling. Direct api access in one model desktop app. Without all the complications apis keys bring. Also because when you switch upgrade etc it breaks things. Simplicity for the power user is key.
Elon keeps warning about birth rates because this is not a spreadsheet problem
South Korea near 0.7 fertility
US hitting record lows
Most rich countries far below replacement
Were more focused and getting very busy with current lifestyle that we're making no plans for the future generation
But none of it matters if civilization forgets to make the next generation
Abundance is pointless without humans to inherit it
@toddsaunders Very true works well for someone building something for themselves. Where tradesmen will have issues is when they try to scale their software to 100 1000 others etc others. That’s when it’s going to get tough. That’s a whole different layer.
Today’s open and closed Models are gonna handle like 98% of what most people need. Then it just becomes: can it be done for $9?
If not, there’s still a ton of opportunity—open source is catching up fast anyway.
Once everything hits similar power (5.5-level context etc), it’s a price war. Most people aren’t paying $200+/mo, so it either gets cheap or gets subsidized.
And no, AI isn’t killing every startup… most people still can’t use Excel properly, let alone run their whole life on AI 😅
