Capacity Building: In Kenya, only 11% of registered professional engineers are women, with just 22% of women enrolled in STEM courses at universities. To bridge this gap, @EngineersBoard sponsored the STEM Boot Camp of Excellence, mentoring 300 students from 26 schools in informal urban settlements at Nairobi Primary School.

Speaking at the event, Registrar/CEO Eng. Margaret Ogai highlighted a growing interest in STEM: “At least 30% of girls are now choosing sciences. With 27,000 engineers registered, there’s a need for more to support Kenya’s STEM-focused policies.”

Barriers remain—cultural, family, and societal—but efforts like this mentorship are driving change.
