@sinrin_gaming Omarchy definitely has a keyboard bias. Works great for me, but my family, some in their late 80s. Once Omarchy supports normal human mouse clicks instead of “tiling kung‑fu,” I’m upgrading at least 10 relatives. This graph is basically yelling 📈.
@sinrin_gaming Once Linux hits 20% desktop market share, all these problems evaporate. At that point Linux is too big to ignore, like a penguin that’s been bulking at the gym and now demands respect. 😂
@sinrin_gaming This is not an opinion.
Omarchy runs at half the RAM than Windows.
I can now search 1.6 million files in ms time , not 10 min like on MS.
For the first time in my life , when I do nothing on my machine then the cpu is 0%. The way it should be.
Honestly, I have tolerated Windows!
@asGokcen@valigo I am by no means a closed source hater, been on Windows for 30 years until I recently changed to Omarchy. Will never go back again. Linux for dev is insane, runs at half the RAM of windows, dev loop massively faster. Omarchy UI is beautiful and that is important for me.
@Mikedotcoza Let’s be clear “creating space for the excluded” ended up enabling R1.5 trillion in taxpayer losses from corruption. That’s enough to buy all 40,000 commercial farms (land) in SA at market value. World bank alone estimates R700B loss per year. Are you not mentally well ?
@sysxplore I’m all‑in on Linux with 💚 Omarchy 💚, but remember it’s just a pit stop. Linux is 35 years old. The next OS will be AI‑built with a mathematically sound kernel like Sel4, written in Rust, and everything (apps, driver etc) running in WASM, fully sandboxed. I think.
@acolombiadev@github Rust’s speed & size are unbeatable. I just hope MS doesn’t try to rewrite Windows in rust, closed‑source OS days are over. The future is Linux. After Linux it's a rust‑based mathematically safe kernel, and rust everywhere via sandboxed WASM for apps, driver etc. linux is 35y old!
@MBashirzadeh@OmarchyLinux Yea I like to work in pairs/workspaces. One is email / messenger , other workspace is vscode/agent harness etc. Also changed workspace switching keyboard key to super + alt + left/right button. Great productivity with instant switching.
@OmarchyLinux 💚
Did not like the default Omarchy monitor switching as I have dual monitor setup and miss my workspace context switching. Finally changed hyprland settings to work with paired monitors 💚 !!
@ThuliMadonsela3@AJENews@Abramjee Democracy means equal protection for everyone. But in SA, minorities don’t feel that. After more than R2.5 trillion lost to corruption, calling current policies “reparatory” ignores the real damage done to all citizens. The argument simply doesn’t match lived reality.
@sysxplore Onedrive/explorer that took 10min to search for something. Cpu was never 0% when I'm doing nothing. On linux I index files with FSearch and search 1.6million files in milliseconds. Finally my cpu rests at 0%, the way it should be. All my development flows are 50% RAM of Windows.
@axeng200@davidfowl Agree,thanks to people like @davidfowl. The move to Omarchy was easy & game changer for me, insane performance to be found everywhere. I was emotional about windows as things just work, but tools+OS are important if performance is the measure
@axeng200@davidfowl I’ve been a .net fan since dinosaurs roamed the earth, but efcore/aot started throwing hands. The final straw? onedrive/explorer moving slower than a koala on melatonin. Also, ai should be baked into the OS. No hate for Windows, just time for my Linux era.
@ilyamirox@dhh@OmarchyLinux Omarchy needs a newbie mode and a keyboard mode if we want to take over the world. Would luv to upgrade all my family members but I know they are all used to using a mouse. 💚
