Shot this picture at the Oct. 27 Reggie Jackson event at the Coliseum, the last time Rickey Henderson appeared on Rickey Henderson Field, which is no more.
“I’m just happy to be here for this opportunity to be on this field for the last time,” Rickey said.
The Oakland A’s were killed by greed. Do not allow the people responsible for this to spin it any other way. John Fisher did not have to move this team. Major League Baseball and its owners did not need to be complicit in it. This was a choice. A wrong one. History will sneer.
John Fisher being unable to play in a stadium he owns a 50% share in is an elite level of business incompetence.
Furthermore, uprooting the A’s to play temporarily in a minor league park cements his legacy as an atrocious steward of a historic team & a stain on Bay Area sports.
@ColiseumSewage @Tony_Frye @Thischarminham When they revealed their negotiations w/ the city were in bad faith they created this situation and are solely to blame for it. This is more like a tenant violating their lease (or a word of mouth commitment) to their landlord then a year later asking for a renewal, hat in hand
Great looking new sign at the Coliseum honoring our many historic moments in Oakland! @Athletics The 2024 season will be a celebration of our fifty plus years in Oakland! See you at the ballpark! ⚾️⚾️⚾️
On behalf of the Oakland 68’s and us at the Last Dive Bar we thank @oxidecomputer for signing on to be a sponsor of the February 24th Fans Fest at Bloc15, Jack London Square.
Oxide’s mission is to “kick butt, have fun, don't cheat, love their customers and change computing forever” and we couldn’t be more happier than to announce them as sponsors.
The more you watch the John Fisher operation, the less you believe anything good will ever happen. Which the people of Las Vegas are discovering right now.

Apropos of @tmsaran's excellent thread on financing: any referendum poses an existential risk to the relocation -- and you can be sure that anyone looking to extend financing is keeping a close eye on it. Donate to @EduOverStadiums to tell them that concern is warranted!
