CBOs’ actions uncovered pathways to sustainable and long-term initiatives for #planetaryhealth. Beyond sustainability, these CBO actions were grounded in regeneration: for human health, for the land, for knowledge, for economies, and for relationships between them. 6/
Using #translocal learning, we found that CBOs from Alaska, Finland, India, Kenya & Peru had intuitively developed responses that honoured Indigenous knowledge, thought about complex systems, cut across health + livelihoods + climate, and centred human rights and dignity. 5/
That's where #translocal learning comes in. It provides a critical and transformative space for people and orgs globally to connect, reflect, and draw on the diversity of shared perspectives as a strength (and not something to be controlled for) 4/
Small community orgs globally have responded above & beyond their pre-pandemic roles to address intersecting #health#livelihoods & #environmental challenges catalysed by #COVID19
But small orgs often are too busy doing what is needed in the crisis moment to link-up, learn 3/
Faced with 'grand challenges,' we tend to want to meet these with big, centralised solutions. But what if smaller, localised actions - with the right-scale and right-relationship in mind - were more responsive, understanding of immediate human needs & potentially effective? 2/
1 pandemic
5 locations
11 research orgs
Countless localised responses
And... 5 babies born to our author team as we were writing
This paper was important on so many levels. Mostly because it articulates the importance of translocal, linked-up actions for #planetaryhealth 1/
What is needed now? Translocalism is more than a nice idea. It reveals the type of infrastructure - soft and hard - that is needed for widespread positive change globally. Linked-up right-scale actions can path the way for widespread regeneration towards #planetaryhealth 7/
#DAOs are a feasible model for decentralised global communities to grow, support and fund science + health research. An initial reflection on DAOs for #PlanetaryHealth via @PlanetHealthX in our recent publication: https://t.co/h9ZEVqVtwb

📢 Projects we love #7📢 Have you heard about @PlanetHealthX ?It is an ecosystem bridging planetary health and blockchain tech, aiming to address climate change's impact on health. They employ creativity, tech, and teamwork to innovate and share solutions. https://t.co/GLxaMb6Hlh
📢 Thrilled to unveil our new paper on "https://t.co/nMauYf1zuO: An Ecosystem Approach to Planetary Health Futures." 🌍 Explore how #Web3 tech fosters innovative global engagement & community building. Published in #ChallengesJournal. 👇https://t.co/7epBnmyUzM @PlanetHealthX
Thanks for sharing @himmoderator✨
It's been energising + exciting to move from academia & policy into practical +creative work on planetary health & beyond🌍
Thanks to the orgs building extitutional fabric that make it possible:@PlanetHealthX@Unexia_org@StemaHealth@UHF_group
Sometimes (often) I feel overwhelmed by the crises we’re facing
And then I connect with kind, committed humans showing up day in day out to do the work, and it’s such blessing to know this isn’t on any one of us
I hope you find your communities too
