This is what we thought we were getting when Dylan Raiola committed to Nebraska. Real bummer that he turned into a fatty with the slowest feet of any quarterback I've ever seen.
Bag drills are training your athletes to be mechanically unsound while providing no value in any modern motor learning theory. I provide the details here: https://t.co/RT0xhUq4TF
@Jasonlewis54 fwiw I like what Puka brings to the football field, off field is another story lol.
IMO I just expect someone of his stature to make the rookie learn basically every rep. Lol.
If JSN fried a rookie it’d be exciting yes but also almost expected is all im getting at
@Jasonlewis54 thoughts on WJ aside, Puka is widely regarded as a top 3 wr in the league.
I’d hope you’re beating the rookie in really any alignment. That’s the expectation for the best.
While yeah it was a good head fake/double move, just not the player quality to be a “Told ya so” clip imo
@stpalme1@FantasyKash Maybe? I think importance of balance is maybe better terms.
You can generate and absorb force in some staggered/triangular angles/stances. Don’t have to be the necessarily traditional “ square on contact ” every time.
Understanding balance and leverage is one of the most important things to pair with independent hands+quick feet.
This leads to something like a post foot being overrated, imo.
Stay square/in a position to generate or absorb as much force as possible without losing your base.
@CaptainCons Your hip height. I was never going to have my pads under a defender. But I could have my hips lower than them. Or my hips is a position to generate enough power to use my hands for leverage upon contact.
@stpalme1@FantasyKash Respect both Thorn and Dukes knowledge a lot.
But as I mentioned in the OP, I think it’s a combo.
Good hand placement with good strike force usually leads you into positive leverage position points.
@stpalme1@FantasyKash Just not so sure how leverage could be overrated when that’s what gets you INTO position and the defender OUT of position.
An off balance player is a no good player.
I think hand placement comes first, but I can’t see how the leverage aspect comes overrated in either rp/pp
Low man doesn’t always win.
Pad level itself isn’t as important as you think.
Don’t need to keep a post foot or post into the LOS.
Dropping your ass lower isn’t gaining leverage.
Rolling hips & getting extension in the run game isn’t optimal.
Hopping immediately against a bullrush isn’t always a good response.

Hard not to like Grey Zabel as a player & competitor as evidenced by this clip on @greenlight giving respect to Kobie Turner & the Rams:
“Kobie Turner is like my kryptonite right now in the game of football. He just works me, every single game. As much as you want to hate the Rams, they’re all really good dudes, across the board. Kobie, he’s out there & he just smiles. He plays the game for the love of the game. It was a sad deal because he got a little banged up & couldn’t finish that NFC Championship game. He’s just an unbelievable guy. He’s top tier. He’s what makes the game fun to okay against defensive lineman.”
