let me seriously contribute to the hot tech girl discourse, as a middle aged woman in tech: appearance and presentation is one of the small disproportionate points of leverage young women have in an industry that’s extremely hostile to them otherwise. and even then: it’s not always a good trade.
I’ve told this story many times, but the reason I didn’t get my CS degree many, many moons ago (including a scholarship to CMU!) is I walked into room after room where no one looked like me. Not only were there no women, but there wasn’t anyone who seemingly cared at all about style or charm. The room might as well said: no hot girls allowed.
20 years in tech and startups and hot girl commentary has been inescapable. Watching men wonder out loud if the female SWE interviewing is hot. The uniform hotness of enterprise sales reps. The Botox, boob jobs, eyelash extensions, and impressively toned arms on 50+ yo female executives. The cutie pie devx yt streamers. The “new to SF” posters.
But before you envy the hot girl (or complain about her rising leverage) also trust this: looks are — on the whole — a miserable downside to being a woman in tech. She will be told she’s only in the room because she’s hot. She will be dismissed as vapid, or preying on men, or needy for attention. She’ll be asked to go on stage or in a booth or on a video in a way that doesn’t make her feel great. She’ll look good for her age and people will presume she’s inexperienced. She will have not-hot days and be told she looks tired. She will be newly pregnant or postpartum and be called fat. She will grow old and wonder if the Botox and boob job and eyelash extensions will give her another decade in the career that she loves. She will tune her “touch up my appearance” settings like her job depends on it. She will wonder when she needs to disappear.
So be kind—to these women, and yourself. These girls are hot, but they’re also smart, hard working, and hyper aware this tool probably has a shelf life. It’s probably not as fun as it seems.
They have feelings, too (even if they’re tough as nails and don’t show it.)
And to the sisterhood of hot tech girls: I salute you! 💅
Crypto payment cards remain a small market next to traditional card networks, which process trillions of dollars per month.
But the trend is growing as stablecoins make greater inroads into the global financial system, including by piggybacking on existing major card network rails. For the tracked programs, this is happening almost entirely through Visa.
Visa leverages VSP and its 96.8% crypto card market share to dominate the stablecoin value chain from bank onchain integration to real-world spending. https://t.co/eHm4zJdq9G
I just want Claude to be normal again.
Like stop saying weird 💩.
Are Anthropic employees not seeing this level of weird and often nonsensical drivel?!
I’m complaining out of love fwiw. I don’t really want to switch over.
I keep saying the strength is in the harness, not the model - because it's true. Not much use without a harness, though.
Here's VISA's open-source cybersecurity harness. Just add model; use hosted closed models, use hosted open models, run on-prem, whatever. Very cool of them to share this tech and lift the defensive cybersec poverty line.
@masonwarner@18pairsonkith This is exactly the reason I bit the bullet and got DGX spark, it’s been amazing to have my 24/7 Hermes agents run on Qwen 3.7 !
1/ Today, we announced Visa is joining Open Standard alongside Stripe, Coinbase, Mastercard, American Express, Blackrock, US Bank, BBVA, Standard Chartered and 100+ initial partners with the mission of issuing Open USD, a shared stablecoin designed for the global financial system.
many people asked me to make a video about my complete agentic engineering workflow
excited to share it's finally here!!!
it took me about 20 hours in total to record this 45 minutes of walkthrough - it covers everything i do to ship production quality code at an average 40+ PRs/day velocity
hope this can be a useful reference to everyone exploring good ways to use AI. and would appreciate a reshare with anyone you think might benefit from this!
enjoy! https://t.co/oA0UCrBvqo
