I’m honoured to be featured in the Canadian Society of Soil Science blog. Thank you Canadian Society of Soil Science for sharing my journey and research. I’m greatful to my supervisors, colleagues, collaborators, friends, and family for their continued guidance and support.
Prabin Ghimire’s research at Université Laval, Québec, focuses on how soil microbes and soil health respond to diverse cropping systems across Canadian agroecosystems. Learn more in this #GroundedInSoils blog post: https://t.co/Kdlb11VDdP @prabinghimire12

Soil respiration constitutes a significant factor in agricultural Co2 emissions. However its correlation with organic agro ecosystem remains elusive. We are undertaking an experiment to elucidate the effect of organic polyculture system on soil respiration.
Canada is joining the Coalition of Action for Soil Health @ca4sh_global. Farmers work to improve soil health and carbon sequestration, and this global effort will help to accelerate this work. https://t.co/UuuwNJbkCQ @COP28_UAE#WorldSoilDay
The three-sister polyculture is a fascinating example of how indigenous people have developed sustainable and productive farming systems.
I am studying how this system affects the soil quality, Soil health and crop yield.
If you have any insights or resources let’s connect.
Ph.D. student to begin in Spring 2023 or Fall 2023 to employ an existing watershed model system to simulate surface runoff, sediment loads, nutrient loads, etc.

Soil extinction is not just another ecological challenge. It is an existential threat. If we do the right things now, we can significantly turn this situation around and regenerate the soil in the next 15-25 years.–Sg #SaveSoil#ConsciousPlanet@UNCCD@FAO@WFP@UNEP@cpsavesoil
