A new name on the ballot papers in Southend this year was the Confelicity party, which was able to field 17 candidates in every ward.
Party leader James Miller says this election may be too soon for them to make an impact, but he's excited about the next year. #LocalElections
This is simply nothing more than an Administration vanity project. Let this development sink in. Car parking spaces lost. £10 Million of taxpayers money used to finance it at a time when there is no money to clean signs and cut the grass more than once a year!
It's a joke that it pops back in to the local news every now and then. I can't believe in the current economic climate this hair brain development is viable.
Isn't it time to pull the plug on this white elephant and get the High St fixed first?
@JoanTiney@PaulTho32949139@MickT870 @SouthendBC @MartinTerryIND Time for Change. Out with the old …Move aside and make way for the new. We need leaders who live , work and have a passionate understanding of Southend,it’s needs and requirements. It’s Not what you want !#pirateRon
@MickT870 @SouthendBC @MartinTerryIND What a load of rubbish this man talks ,does this mean that all visitors who visit the town by car is a bad driver.
What a plank .
It’s not often I am lost for words but the justification for increasing parking charges is to stop poor and dangerous driving. It sure will do. People will stay away.
If you are concerned about the parking charges hikes, the Administration’s response: ‘stop moaning’.
This Council really, really doesn't like the tourist seafront trade!
They are even prepared to hand out £10 million to a private company (Turnstone) to reduce the parking spaces available by building the Seaway white elephant.
This year, sadly the free parking after 6PM may no longer be in place, as the council could be pushing it later to 9PM. We understand that this can really affect people's visits to Southend. What are your thoughts on this?
I wonder if Colchester Council are giving Turnstone Estates £10 million to help build the Northern Gateway Leisure Park complex? It will be interesting to see which of these Turnstone developments happens first.
@PhilipMillerMBE @cllrtonycox @MartinTerryIND ....... I’d like to echo Philip’s thanks to Cllr Martin Terry......the 64% increase in the cost of a days parking really helped to draw the visitors back.
Fantastic team effort Martin, couldn’t have done it without you.
You are the man!

@PhilipMillerMBE I went to the cinema recently and it was empty. The town isn't crying out for another cinema or restaurants. This summer has shown that what it needs is more parking especially for the seafront.
@CllrIanGilbert ever seen Southend seafront deserted like this on a Saturday night, 10pm in the school holidays? Anti visitor Anti business Anti seafront administration trying to kill off seafront economy.
No doubt you will not stop until everyone in Southend loses their jobs?
@edgarwright@sparksofficial@SparksBrothers When do we get to see it round our way (Hey that could be a song!) If you own the BBC, get them to show it.
I saw Sparks at the Kursaal Ballroom in 1974 and have been a fan ever since.
I don't think we do. If we need an PM that all the tory MP's can gang up against and kick out of office, I think there is a strong contender already there!
It really has become that the cure is worse than the disease. To shut businesses down now, at the busiest time of year for many, is cruel, pointless and insane. If lockdown didn't help, how will this?
