@NeilDotObrien When the Jay Report was published your govt not only didn’t say that it had too narrow a remit and order a further inquiry, you took months to respond and failed to act on a single one of its recommendations.

@EdwardEGibbon So yes, it’s both the case that there isn’t the demand from the legal profession- what we sell to them - but also we in the pre-92 sector are ill-equipped to deliver what management want. And btw the legal profession value the academic degrees too. So none of it works.

@EdwardEGibbon Absolutely. There’s a large amount of tension at the moment in that regard with law degrees. We see our courses as academic rather than vocational (and we did PhDs rather than prof quals so most never practiced), but the pressure from above is for that to flip.
