#DMK Budget vs #TVK Budget

I analyzed the official figure #DMK’s February 2026 Interim Budget and the #TVK government’s August 2026 Revised Budget.

Across directly comparable departments, allocations increased by about 6.4%—from ₹2.82 lakh crore to ₹3 lakh crore.

The clearest push is towards Rural Development, along with housing, health, transport and digital services.

At the same time, School Education, Energy, Water Resources and Handlooms received lower allocations than in the interim estimates.

The takeaway is not simply that #TVK is spending more—it has reordered priorities, placing greater weight on rural infrastructure, welfare delivery and digital capacity.

The issue was never just the remark. It was everything that followed.

The smirk, the pause, and the subsequent "I meant Cauvery" explanation have been defended and normalised by many of the DMK supporters. To me, that response is as troubling as the remark itself.
