I’ve spent many hours thinking about one specific (and slightly weird) problem. Then I read two articles over the weekend in @TheEconomist and the @nytimes about it. So I decided to write a little about it myself. Let me know what you think.

@_AmandaMcKinney@POTUS We had a diplomatic solution in place for a decade - until Trump ripped it up. The Strait of Hormuz was open - until Trump launched an unprovoked attack. There’s nothing “America First” about this illegal regime change war.
@_AmandaMcKinney You support Donald Trump’s agenda, which has been a disaster for farmers and rural America. Your party has been in power for most of the last quarter century and its policies continue to hollow out rural economies. Central Washington needs something different. Turn WA04 blue.
@_AmandaMcKinney You imply there’s been a failure of leadership, but your party has been in the leadership position for the better part of a quarter century. Not to mention that “honest, grounded, & principled” are three adjectives no one has ever used to describe the current President….
@_AmandaMcKinney By the midterms, Republicans will have controlled the House for 24 of the last 32 years (& 12/16), the Senate for 18/32 years (8/12), & the White House for 14 of the last 26 years (6/10). If DC isn’t working for Americans, don’t we have the GOP to blame?
@RepNewhouse@RepBaumgartner@thehoffather@BrandiKruse@choeshow Did you write this letter with a straight face? How about all the outlets the Trump administration has banned or restricted? First Amendment rights are for everyone, not just your side.
Voters and constituents in Yakima County (WA-04) deserve to know exactly what @RepNewhouse and @_AmandaMcKinney think about the ICE operation in Minneapolis and the killings of US citizens there.
BREAKING via Star-Tribune: GOP gubernatorial candidate ends bid, says he can’t support "stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.”

Ted Cruz (2016): “I want to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar...He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth…The man cannot tell the truth, but he combines it with being a narcissist at a level I don't think this country has ever seen.”
I almost appreciate how Trump has exposed how vacant every single high profile conservative belief was: free speech, states’ rights, letting the market decide, NATO, right to bear arms, democracy, all of it. It’s been an empty, malicious political project for decades and decades
They told us Democrats would turn America into a show-your-papers society.
They told us Democrats would strip away the Second Amendment.
They told us Democrats would jail us for what we say.
They told us Democrats would drag us into more foreign wars.
They told us Democrats would cover up a child sex trafficking ring.
And then Republicans took power and decided to do all of it themselves.
Even if you take the conservative defense of each ICE killing, you’re left with “We haphazardly scaled up a poorly trained police force to storm into neighborhoods that voted against the president, where we antagonize the local population until someone resists arrest, and then we kill them,” which is morally horrendous on top of being an absurd way to do immigration policy.
I cannot believe that 77 million people voted for this shit. He doesn’t care about you, the American economy, or anything other than what inflates his demented ego.
Over twenty-five years in the U.S. Navy, thirty-nine combat missions, and four missions to space, I risked my life for this country and to defend our Constitution – including the First Amendment rights of every American to speak out. I never expected that the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense would attack me for doing exactly that.
My rank and retirement are things that I earned through my service and sacrifice for this country. I got shot at. I missed holidays and birthdays. I commanded a space shuttle mission while my wife Gabby recovered from a gunshot wound to the head– all while proudly wearing the American flag on my shoulder. Generations of servicemembers have made these same patriotic sacrifices for this country, earning the respect, appreciation, and rank they deserve.
Pete Hegseth wants to send the message to every single retired servicemember that if they say something he or Donald Trump doesn’t like, they will come after them the same way. It’s outrageous and it is wrong. There is nothing more un-American than that.
If Pete Hegseth, the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in our country’s history, thinks he can intimidate me with a censure or threats to demote me or prosecute me, he still doesn’t get it. I will fight this with everything I’ve got — not for myself, but to send a message back that Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump don’t get to decide what Americans in this country get to say about their government.
Donald Trump betrayed his MAGA base today launching a war of choice to bring regime change in Venezuela.
We keep voting against dumb wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, & Libya.
But our Presidents bow to a foreign policy blob committed to militarism. They get us entangled in conflicts abroad, while ignoring the lack of good jobs and high costs for Americans at home.
What will we say now if Xi Jinping wants to capture Lai of Taiwan or Putin tries to capture Zelensky in Ukraine?
The times call for a movement of the American people to stand against bloated defense budgets and warmongering. We need statesmen who will heed the advice of Washington and our founders and invest in jobs, healthcare, childcare & education for our people.
Trump sets his military operation in Venezuela to the soundtrack of "Fortunate Son," a song about how the people who start wars are not the ones who pay its costs, it's ordinary working-class Americans who fight and die and pay the price
@_AmandaMcKinney@POTUS How does this make America safer? How is this “America First”? We’ve set a horrible precedent here and the world is a more dangerous place as a result. Shame on this administration and anyone who supports this action.
