My icky guilty pleasure is feeling righteously annoyed. The X algorithm has figured this out about me, so it keeps serving me stuff that encourages me to become a self I'm embarrassed by. I regret my time here.
@eigenrobot Hitting a major league baseball is a weird genetic thing. Some guys just have it. Check out Alejandro Kirk. He's short and chubby and looks like a turtle but for whatever reason he was born with a gift.
@intjgamergirl Makes sense. I think their underlying qualities are normal like everyone else's but their effect on people gets exaggerated by their looks. So they may be normal and act normal but people perceive their (normal) behavior as abnormal.
@intjgamergirl They also tend to be believed preferentially by onlookers, possibly because emotional appeals hit some kind of "this is an emergency" bug in our evolved hardware
She took her very old dog to a photo op so she can look at the photo later and feel wistful about her beloved dead dog. It's a reasonable thing to do. The parents at the zoo or the Louvre with a six month old aren't at a photo op.
Idk why people are turning on Charlie Rose all of a sudden, but I'm good with it. For people of my age group who would grow up seeing his serious-looking interviews while flipping thru the channels, discovering that he isn't too bright was like a rite of passage into adulthood.
I gotta respect Ethan Mollick's Herculean labor to drag LinkedIn Americans into the future. Online, LinkedIn Americans are extremely low status. Mocked and hated, untouchables. Yet Ethan never gives up on them.
An easy way to get a team engaged with AI is just to build the thing you are talking about in the meeting during the meeting using Codex or Claude Code.
At worst, it fails in ways that can be constructive. At best, you built the thing and the meeting topic shifts forward a month
@pol_plesiosaur@jeremymstamper I bet Kimmel is really funny in person. The same way character actors seem unexpectedly good looking in person. A big league bench warmer is still better than any regular guy.
