Beta is often misunderstood.
A stock moving fast does not automatically make it strong.
Sometimes, it is simply moving more than the market.
That is why quants do not just ask:
“Is this stock moving fast?”
They ask:
“Is this real strength, or just higher market exposure?”
Because velocity without context can be misleading.
A stock may look aggressive, but that movement could simply be amplified sensitivity to the broader market rather than true independent strength.
For quants, strength is not judged by speed alone.
It is judged by behaviour relative to the market, risk exposure, and consistency.
Fast is not always strong.

In India, everyone knows Virat's score.
But do you know your stock's score? 🤔
Before investing:
🏢 Check the Fundamental Score
📈 Check the Momentum Score
Because stocks deserve the same attention as cricket scores.

In trading, diversification is not just about having different positions.
It is about understanding how those positions behave together. Correlation matters more than most traders think. Two trades can look completely different on the surface and still hurt the portfolio in the same moment.
That is why quants do not only study trades individually.
They study how positions behave together.
Because a portfolio is not just a list of ideas.
It is a system of relationships.
And when those relationships tighten during stress,
risk rises faster than expected.
In portfolios, interaction matters as much as selection.

RT to share this with US traders who need to know.
Thread: The $25,000 day trading rule is dead. Here's what every US retail trader needs to know. 🧵
1/7 Starting June 4, 2026, FINRA's Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule is eliminated.
The $25,000 minimum equity wall that blocked millions of retail traders from day trading? Gone.
Here's what changed - and what it means for you.
6/7 This is huge for retail traders in the US.
The $25K barrier was one of the most complained-about rules in retail trading for 25 years.
It disproportionately affected newer and smaller traders who simply couldn't meet the threshold.

Most traders think risk management begins after entry.
Quants know it begins before the trade is even placed.
Before entering a trade, they define:
📌 Position size
📌 Maximum acceptable loss
📌 Market condition that can break the setup
📌 What happens if the idea is right, but the timing is wrong
Because a strategy is not just about finding entries.
It is also about surviving uncertainty.
And in trading, survival is not separate from performance.
It is part of performance.
Less reaction
More preparation
Better decisions
That is the kind of thinking we try to build through EPAT at QuantInsti - where trading is approached not just as execution, but as a complete quantitative decision-making process.
