Claude Fable 5 will be available again globally tomorrow.
After a series of productive conversations with the US government, we're redeploying the model with a new set of classifiers to target and block more cybersecurity tasks. In the near term, some routine tasks like coding and debugging will fall back to Opus 4.8. We’ll continue to refine these classifiers over the coming weeks to reduce false positives and better distinguish genuine misuse from legitimate requests.
We’ve also begun drafting a consensus framework—with Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and other Glasswing partners—for assessing the severity of AI jailbreaks and how AI developers should respond to them. We invite other industry partners and model providers to join us in this effort.
Finally, we’re scaling up our collaboration with the US government on model testing and safeguards. This will include pre-release access to models and safeguards for evaluation, information sharing on jailbreaks and misuse, and dedicated resources for joint research.
Thank you to our users for your patience, and to our partners across the government, industry, and the research community who worked alongside us to make Fable 5 available again.

Introducing Claude Sonnet 5, our most agentic Sonnet yet.
It makes plans, uses tools like browsers and terminals, and runs autonomously at a level that just a few months ago required larger and more expensive models.
@cerebras is now running @GoogleDeepMind's Gemma 4 - the leading open-weight multimodal model - at 1,851 tokens per second in public preview.
This is 35x faster than a typical GPU endpoint.
Cerebras speed also translates into world class latency - Gemma 4 on Cerebras returns its first answer token inclusive of reasoning in 1.5 seconds, making Cerebras the only provider that lets Gemma 4 be used in real-time settings.
This is the power of wafer scale.
🚨 BREAKING: Anthropic and US Govt insiders expect the administration's limits on Fable 5 could be lifted as soon as this coming week, per Axios.
The Pentagon and National Security Agency still have to give Fable 5 the green light, but other government agencies have given the go-ahead.
@ryanbrewer I am using the codex app while being connected in SSH to my VPS where all my code runs etc.
-> Any solution to use your magnificent browser plugin in that situation ?
The largest, frontier OAI model at nearly 750 tps on Cerebras!
"We're also launching GPT‑5.6 Sol on Cerebras at up to 750 tokens per second in July, bringing frontier intelligence to customers at unprecedented speed."
Sol is our new flagship and a step function better than GPT-5.5.
Terra delivers performance competitive to GPT-5.5 at 2x lower cost.
Luna is our most cost-efficient model, delivering strong capability at our lowest cost.
Together, the GPT-5.6 family gives people and developers more choice in how they balance intelligence, speed, and cost.
