🚨 We recognize and value the important work of international groups like the International Crisis Group (ICG) regarding Arakan (Rakhine) and the Rohingya situation. However, the recent report titled "Breaking Away: The Battle for Myanmar’s Rakhine State" has deeply concerned us due to its lack of professionalism, distortion of facts, and biased assertions, which were made without any consultation with our office. We strongly urge the ICG to address the following points:

1️⃣ The report alleges "As recently as March 2024, RSO officials had publicly said they “support” the Arakan Army". This is a severe misrepresentation. We have consistently stated that we “communicate occasionally” as part of our commitment to peaceful coexistence and which is very common worldwide. The Arakan Army, however, has engaged in violence against the Rohingya, resulting in numerous deaths. Unfortunately, we also did not find any clear mention in the report of the mass murder of Rohingya by the Arakan Army, their intentional targeting of innocent civilians, or the recent killings of Rohingya by the AA. We ask the ICG to correct these omissions and mischaracterizations.

2️⃣ The ICG claims that "Its members also went door to door, abducting or pressing refugees into service". We respectfully challenge the ICG to provide credible evidence that we abducted any common Rohingya person to support this serious accusation.

3️⃣ The report further alleges that "RSO has shown little regard for tender age, pressing into service refugees as young as fourteen". We categorically reject this claim. Our highest council strictly prohibits the recruitment of minors for military purposes. We expect the ICG to either provide substantial proof or retract this unfounded allegation.

4️⃣ The ICG also claims that "at least one child from the refugee camps was killed while fighting for the group in Myanmar." This is a grave accusation, and we call upon the ICG to clarify their position with concrete evidence.

5️⃣ Additionally, the report misleadingly suggests that we are collaborating with the junta. The reality is quite different: the junta has consistently avoided engaging with us, and we have likewise focused on addressing the Arakan Army's ongoing mass murders of Rohingya. As we have always made clear, we are not working with the junta.

It is deeply troubling that such significant allegations were published without any prior engagement with our office. This approach undermines the ethics of research and journalism. We call on the ICG to promptly address these issues and uphold the highest accuracy and fairness standards.

Seven years ago, on August 25th, 2017, the Rohingya people endured one of the most horrific genocides of the century. Entire communities were wiped out by a brutal junta, aided by terrorist forces of today's Arakan army (AA). The survivors carry scars that will never heal. Today, the Rohingya face a renewed systematic genocide at the hands of the cowardly terrorist AA, who, after being defeated in multiple battles by our brave brothers, now targets innocent civilians.

We honor those who lost their lives in the 2017 genocide and those who continue to sacrifice for our rights. We must never forget that our only option is to fight for our rights and secure the future of the next generation. We vow that every life lost will be avenged, and every drop of blood will be accounted for. No matter what they attempt, Arakan belongs to the Rohingya people. Another massacre by the Israeli army this morning in #Gaza: dozens of civilians killed, including children, and hundreds injured. The army bombed a densly populated area in Mawasi, Khan Younes, which was designated by Israel as a safe zone for tens of thousands of refugees who were forced out of their homes. This is Israel’s response to the ICJ ruling 4 months ago, to the UNSC more than a month ago and to the ongoing ceasefire talks. Netanyahu wants permanent aggression and permanent occupation.
