#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.
We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled.

It’s raining again,
You see PMC plus PCMC is 519 sq kilometres
There are many development enthusiasts amongst the population living here. They want trees out of the way.
Little do they know that with use of technology such as concrete and steel and plastic and so on. We kill the earths absorptive capacity.
It simply means that, for everytime you lay a road or a building foundation or a concrete pavement you kill the soil below it.
This also becomes a heat trap.,
With every 1% rise in heat, there is 7% increase in rainfall. In the past 130 years we have the modal average at 65 mm of rainfall. In the past 6 years we have had over 10 events of rainfall which is over 100 mm.
If one square kilometre recieved 100 mm or almost 4 inches of rain it would amount to 10 crore litres. If the surface is concrete, zero 0️⃣ drops would get absorbed and all of the water would run off.
If all of Pune gets covered in concrete it would mean 5190 crore litres of water would flood pune in a single rainfall event.,
Today 6% of Pune’s surface is covered with roads, they want to make it 15%. Imagine 15% of land covered only with concrete roads. The construction and buildings are apart.
This quantum of water = the entire storage capacity of Khadakwasla Dam of 1.75 TMC.
Has anybody thought through this. Fact is Nobody has., Architects and Engineers simply dont have the intellectual ability to understand or comprehend this math. The only defence we have against urban flooding is trees. Trees break the rain and get the rainwater to get absorbed into the ground. Open spaces, Forests, Wetlands and trees succeed in absorbing upto 46% of the rainwater that falls on them.
That is why every tree 🌳 is important and every tree needs to be successfully transplanted or re-planted.
Then again; when the traffic crowds and cars and vehicles gather and can’t get ahead due to urban flooding. The Sox or sulphur dioxide emissions go up by a huge quantum. Our fuels both petrol and diesel aren’t sulphur free. All these vehicles are doing is being stuck for miles and miles in gridlocked traffic idling and polluting. Then it rains and the airborne Sulphur mixes with the falling rain water to become sulphuric acid. This is what we know as acid rain. The acid rain is very corrosive and damages every single thing it falls upon. Roads, Car Paint, Plastics, Garbage, Walls, Concrete surfaces, contaminates pure rain water - should I go on…
Welcome the rains and say hello to all the other aspects which we conveniently overlook…
Welcome urban floods.
Welcome traffic jams,
Welcome accidents,
Welcome air pollution,
Welcome acid rain.
@lonethinker@ThePuneMirror While 'Suo moto' term originates in legal contexts, particularly in judicial proceedings, it can be used in non-legal context as well - in a community settings and personal situations.

I salute these mainstream media channels that have shown some spine and covered the Ladakh issue.
I hope this will shake the conscience of the others too.

Whether this is your reality or not, this is certainly interesting.
The first 3 words I saw were gratitude, connection and change.
