very Valid concern - I've worked in AI for years. Fear of automation is real, but a ministry isn't what causes job loss - lack of skill adaptation does. If the policy will balance and promote jobs, that could be a winning model. so the answer would lie in the details and policy gaps.
Instead of watching Netflix, watch this 1-hour Yale lecture by Professor Ben Polak.
It will change how you think about decisions in negotiations, business, and everyday life.
@APompliano The forklift didn't replace the worker. Poor wage floors and no retraining did. history repeats. The tech is neutral. Policy and how we choose to deploy it isn't. we need to prepare youngsters for the new age.
π¨ ALERT: AI is hitting early-career workers hardest, with employment declining for ages 22β25 in AI-exposed roles while rising for those 30+, highlighting that experience is becoming a key advantage.
π§ The Hidden AI Crisis No Oneβs Talking About
AI isnβt just replacing jobs β itβs quietly breaking the career ladder.
Fresh grads are getting hit hardest. Entry-level roles in software dev & customer service are disappearing fast, while experienced pros are actually thriving.
Goldman Sachs: 25,000 US jobs replaced by AI monthly, 9,000 new ones added. Net loss: 16,000/month.
Gen Z is taking the brunt οΏ½ concentrated in white-collar tasks AI automates first.

@Drewfromweb3 Honestly? Less scared of replacement, more scared of becoming irrelevant to my own work. I've pivoted 7 times. The constant wasn't the job, it was staying genuinely curious about what's changing. That's harder to automate than any specific skill.
@chamath Not only money will move to resilient sectors like energy, infrastructure but also investors will bet on winner takes it all kind of companies in tech space. so speculative money remains in tech/ai space.
Absolutely, we humans need purpose more than anything else, even more than money... Otherwise it will affect mental health and it spirals down everything in life
5 minutes ago, @karpathy just dropped karpathy/jobs!
he scraped every job in the US economy (342 occupations from BLS), scored each one's AI exposure 0-10 using an LLM, and visualized it as a treemap.
if your whole job happens on a screen you're cooked.
average score across all jobs is 5.3/10.
software devs: 8-9.
roofers: 0-1.

Your entire life will change when you realize itβs never too late. You can wake up and choose to see things differently. You can completely reinvent your life. Too late is an internal fantasy, not an external reality. Every time you think itβs too late, itβs probably still early.
