I keep thinking this morning about something Kamala Harris said throughout her historic campaign: We have so much more in common than what separates us.

Obviously I think our country made the wrong choice here and put us on a worse path across a range of issues. But one of the things I worry about most is how a Trump presidency will aim to divide us.

If we want to fulfill our potential as a nation, we will need to work harder than ever to seek out the things we have in common, and to fight against the idea that the enemy in America is within.

People, communities, and organizations will need to do more than we ever have before to stand up for our shared values. To stand firm in the idea that diversity is part of what makes our country so special. That inclusion is how we unlock our collective potential. That building a level playing field is how we uncover the incredible talent that exists all around us.

These concepts don't just *coexist* with values like merit and performance and acceleration -- they create the foundation for those values to thrive.

I expect we'll see more narratives in the coming months and years that seek to turn us against each other, to demonize members of our own communities, and to convince us that success is zero sum. That it's "us" or "them."

We can choose to reject these messages and come together around the many things we have in common. I'll be working hard to make this possible in my work, and I hope to see people on every part of the political spectrum do the same.

In my mid-forties, I’ve now been paying attention long enough to be able to feel the compounding effect of 2% national GDP growth.

All aspects of material culture are better than when I was a kid:

- Everyone has an Internet-connected computer / camera in their pocket
- Medicine has improved to the point that people survive heart-attacks, cancer, etc. that used to kill them
- More interesting, higher quality food (including in smaller cities & towns)
- Good coffee everywhere
- More reliable, more powerful cars that pollute less
- Air travel safer & available even to the working class (much nicer airports, too)
- Clothing cheaper & more comfortable
- Incredible variety of media available on demand, wherever you are

& so on

Really drives home how even relatively slow growth massively compounds over decades & makes me incredibly optimistic about the future.

I support Kamala Harris because we need a President that can drive stable policy that is pro science, business, education, choice, global trade, and immigration. The alternative path has already shown to be highly volatile on each of these dimensions.
