@MebFaber But...small caps are now lower quality - about a third of R2K companies are unprofitable (5% 20 years ago), returns on invested capital dropped to 3-4% (down from teens in the 1990s), and average net debt to earnings has climbed to > 3 x (2x previously)
Napoleon's definition of a military genius:
"The man who can do the average thing when everyone else around him is losing his mind."
Same in investing, especially weeks like this.
@MebFaber Good way of bottom fishing. Here is an interesting twist - instead of limit orders, sell puts. If no decline, you keep a fat premium instead of unfilled limit orders. Otherwise, you get assigned and buy at a low price.
@morganhousel Good point. But it was indeed a bubble with everything you'd expect from a bubble; >95% drop and > 10 years before regaining the high again. It was a good company but price was way ahead of fundamentals and had to correct.
@MebFaber@CreditSuisse Meb - I've been a big fan for many years but 100+ tweets is a hurricane not a storm. Not the best format for a review like this.
@ReformedTrader Long stocks, short index futures - sounds familiar, Wes @alphaarchitect. I think shorting stocks efficiently is unrealistic except maybe for very large cap.
@Hardcastle_420@MebFaber Wrong. Here is their Q2 2012 forecast. But same can be said of them in the late 1990's. They were early but eventually right in a big way.
