@segalmr@Popehat There is a vast, expensive, terrifying gulf between “that is not a chargeable offense” and “if charged, you will probably win at trial.”
@am_yers@ASFleischman I’ve had cases where my client was obviously guilty, and cases where my client was obviously innocent. The cases I have had where I really didn’t know were mostly sex cases.
@michaelharriot Upset? Sure. I don’t want a ticket. But when everyone drives 45 in a 35, that means the police can stop anyone they want for no reason besides driving the speed of traffic, and that’s worse.

@Franz94889424@johnennis@wanyeburkett The insurance market drives up list price on medical stuff. The insurance company and hospital negotiate from the wacky list price to a more reasonable price, but people who don’t have insurance-company clout are charged the wacky list price.
@DrAllyLouks This looks really interesting. The use of smell descriptions to evoke emotions and themes in fiction is subtle but can be very powerful.
Congratulations on your PhD.
