I have no idea why Sam Altman was fired and, from the 10,000 other posts on the topic, nobody else does either. As a result, no one knows what this means for OpenAI or AI in general. Hopefully that saves you some time on Twitter.

Title: Can You see us?
Description: “Just a video loop of a bunch of weird wavy nooodles, nothing to see here, right?”
Encryption method: “I can’t linguistically describe it because it’s a lot of trial and error, but so far, the message has been decoded by a person who didn’t even know that there was supposed to be a message on 150ug 1plsd. I believe that any psychedelic/dissociative substance that causes heavy tracers could be helpful in decoding the message. Also, a person needs to be trained to change their mode of focus to see it. Once they see it, they can’t unsee it.”

Commentary:
One of the judges estimated that the “LSD-equivalent” threshold of tracers needed for being able to easily decode this piece was approximately 150μg, whereas another one estimated it at roughly 100μg. What made this image stand out, and receive the first prize relative to the other two, was how relatively easy it was to decode in the right state of mind. In other words, this piece easily distinguishes people who are sufficiently affected by psychedelics and those who simply aren’t high enough. More so, it doesn’t require a lot of time, dedication, or effort. The encoded information simply, allegedly, “pops out” in the right state of consciousness

One of the most influential theories in social science is the strength of weak ties: our weaker connections (acquaintances, not friends) help us the most as they link us to more diverse opportunities.
A test of the theory on 20M folks (mostly) proved it https://t.co/Rutf8mTyPb
🧵 Today is my last day at @sfiscience! It's been an honor and a pleasure to oversee SFI's social media for the last 4.5 years, to launch and grow #ComplexityPodcast into an internationally-charting show, and to work amidst such a thriving and inspiring intellectual community...
I'm really digging the concept of 'Digital Gardens', here's a couple of links that may inspire you too 🪴:

This is quite the paper!
It gave 25 AI agents motivations & memory, and put them in a simulated town.
Not only did they engage in complex behavior (including throwing a Valentine’s Day party) but the actions were rated more human than humans roleplaying. https://t.co/G7oJW1S3na
