Introducing Cline Kanban: A standalone app for CLI-agnostic multi-agent orchestration. Claude and Codex compatible.
npm i -g cline
Tasks run in worktrees, click to review diffs, & link cards together to create dependency chains that complete large amounts of work autonomously.
as fun as its been seeing opus and gpt one up each other, i don't think these will be the models we standardize on a year from now.
anthropic and openai have $200/mo plans where ppl have done the math is 36x cheaper than API cost. @steipete even said he had to stack subscriptions to make clawdbot because it "made tokens so much cheaper".
the play here is subsidize individual plans → devs get hooked → bring it to work → employers buy enterprise seats at 10x the price. BUT once they've captured enterprise, individuals and small teams *will* get priced out. 🧵
@sdrzn@steipete While open-source models are indeed more cost-effective, how much longer will it take before we approach the asymptotic performance limits, where state-of-the-art and open-source models become indistinguishable to the average user? I bet we could see that before the end of 2026.
Cline v3.39 can now generate diff view comments to explain the changes he makes 🚀 You can also ask for help reviewing pull requests, recent commits, and more! Writing code is easy–reviewing and approving is the new bottleneck, and we're excited for you to try this new feature.
Cline meets developers where they are, in your IDE, in your workflow, and next week at re:Invent.
Daniel ( @NighttrekETH), Francis ( @inferencetoken), and Rashad are in Vegas all week to talk agentic coding, hear what you're building, and connect.
DM to grab coffee or chat. If you spot us on the ground, say hi, we've got exclusive swag.

Anthropic releasing Opus 4.5 at 3x lower costs is a trend I'd like to see the rest of the industry adopt, especially as we see usage based pricing become more common. Price gouging for model access only hurts the end user, not apps like Cline, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.
We are announcing cline-bench, a real world open source benchmark for agentic coding.
cline-bench is built from real world engineering tasks from participating developers where frontier models failed and humans had to step in.
Each accepted task becomes a fully reproducible RL environment with a starting repo snapshot, a real prompt, and ground truth tests from the code that ultimately shipped.
For labs and researchers, this means:
> you can eval models on genuine engineering work, not leetcode puzzles.
> you get environments compatible with Harbor and modern eval tooling for side by side comparison.
> you can use the same tasks for SFT and RL so training and evaluation stay grounded in real engineering workflows.
Today we are opening contributions and starting to collect tasks through the Cline Provider. Participation is optional and limited to open source repos.
When a hard task stumps a model and you intervene, that failure can be turned into a standardized environment that the entire community can study, benchmark, and train on.
If you work on difficult open source problems, especially commercial OSS, I would like to personally invite you to help. We're committing $1M to sponsor open source maintainers to take part in the cline-bench initiative.
"Cline-bench is a great example of how open, real-world benchmarks can move the whole ecosystem forward. High-quality, verified coding tasks grounded in actual developer workflows are exactly what we need to meaningfully measure frontier models, uncover failure modes, and push the state of the art."
– @shyamalanadkat, Head of Applied Evals @OpenAI
"Nous Research is focused on training and proliferating models that excel at real world tasks. cline-bench will be an integral tool in our efforts to maximize the performance and understand the capabilities of our models."
– @Teknium, Head of Post Training @nousresearch
"We are huge fans of everything Cline has been doing to empower the open source AI ecosystem, and are incredibly excited to support the cline-bench release. High-quality open environments for agentic coding are exceedingly rare. This release will go a long way both as an evaluation of capabilities and as a post-training testbed for challenging real-world tasks, advancing our collective understanding and capabilities around autonomous software development."
– @willcb, Research Lead @PrimeIntellect:
"We share Cline's commitment to open source and believe making this benchmark available to all will help us continue to push the frontier coding capabilities of our LLMs."
– @b_roziere, Research Scientist @MistralAI:

Today we're announcing Cline for Enterprise.
The same Cline that 3.5 million developers trust, now with enterprise governance.
It runs wherever you work (VS Code, JetBrains, CLI, or integrated into your own tooling), with whatever model performs best for the task (Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek), on whichever provider is available (Bedrock, Vertex, Azure, OpenAI).
This means code stays secure and stays in your environment. Use inference at your negotiated cloud provider rates. Enterprise governance without changing how developers work.
Some AI coding tools are down today because they're locked to a single cloud provider. Cline Enterprise is different. When one provider goes down, you switch to another and keep coding.
We deliver the agent loop where you and your developers work, and you manage the inference.
Read more below to learn how you can roll out Cline for Enterprise in your organization.
Cline for CLI is here 🚀 `npm i -g cline` open source and scriptable for you to build ontop of -> Slack bots, GitHub actions, or even have VSCode Cline use it as subagents. This is the first step to bringing Cline everywhere you work.
npm install -g cline
Not just Cline in the terminal, but the primitive you can build on.
> scriptable
> open-source
> open-model
Return to the primitives.
(Preview)
More choice in agentic coding – right inside your JetBrains IDEs.
We strive to deliver industry-best AI, so we’re welcoming Cline to our platform – a transparent, client-side coding agent you can use in your IDE.
