The reason Lee thought a well coordinated frontal center attack would succeed at Gettysburg was probably because he did it and it basically worked at Gaine's Mill (57,000 men in 6 Divisions & his first victory of the war) the previous summer. But in that battle the ANV outnumbered the AotP almost 2:1 and Jackson was still around (although late to arrive) and even then it barely worked.
@1788_Publius@souljagoyteller There is no perfect commander. By how much the good outweighs the bad is how you judge. When someone refuses to listen (like at Gettysburg) there's nothing you can do. His famed audacity became hubris there.
