NMMTA strongly condemns the denial of Professor status to Dr. Sunil S. Shivekar, a Medical M.Sc-Ph.D. faculty member possessing the requisite experience, solely because his "Ph.D. was not obtained through a regular in-campus programme from a recognized medical institution".

This decision is arbitrary and legally unsustainable. To our knowledge, Dr. Shivekar earned his Ph.D. in 2015- years before the formation of NMC and the promulgation of its current regulations. Applying a subsequently introduced criterion retrospectively is both unjust and contrary to established principles of natural justice.

NMMTA had objected to these provisions when public feedback was sought to the draft regulations, and has repeatedly conveyed its concerns to the NMC and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (@MoHFW_INDIA). Having failed to secure a fair resolution, the Association has now approached the Hon'ble High Court seeking justice.

We urge the @NMC_IND @NMC_BHARAT to immediately withdraw its letter and accord due recognition to Dr. Shivekar as Professor. Merit, experience, and demonstrated competence-not retrospective technicalities- must guide academic recognition.

Also, the Association respectfully requests the Hon'ble Minister, Shri @JPNadda ji, to take necessary steps to curb the dangerous precedent of enforcing rules retrospectively. The unnecessary harassment meted out to the Medical M.Sc-PhD faculties are avoidable.

On 25 August 2025, Hon'ble Union Health Minister Shri JP Nadda Ji inaugurated New Government Medical Colleges in Sheopur and Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh.

On 10 November 2025, news article about Government Medical College Sheopur:
"The condition of the Govt. Medical College is worse than Govt. School, students return without lab equipment and furniture"

Three Professors for the first year, one in each department (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry) were appointed from Gwalior Medical College (along with names of 52 faculty) by the State Govt in order to get recognition from NMC for admission of 100 students.

90 students who took admission are not going to college for lack of resources at college.

No regular classes.

Only online classes are being conducted as there is no furniture for the students to sit in the classroom.

NMC - MSc Medical Postgraduation plus PhD Medical Degree from NMC recognized Medical Institution is required to be appointed as Demonstrator in the respective department

PGIMER - MSc in the respective field with one year experience in their respective department is eligible to be considered for Junior Demonstrator Post

95 out of 217 registered members with our association are Women i.e. 43.7 % of MSc Medical Postgraduates (Medical Teachers) in our association are women.

There are 1000s more women MSc Medical Postgraduates out there in the Nation serving in both Govt and Pvt Medical Institutions as teachers for the last 60 plus years.

All these daughters are not only severely discriminated by the Govt. but are denied health(mental) and equal opportunity by the Ministry of Health and are denied the opportunity to practice their profession with dignity.

Many of these daughters are as seniors as 50 plus year old and are serving medical education for nearly 20 plus years after duly qualified from medical colleges including from @aiims_newdelhi @OfficialJipmer @RMLDelhi @MKmcmanipal SVIMS Dr NTRUHS RUHS etc. as teachers and many as young as 30-year-old who are deceived and severely punished by this Nation for choosing education. And most of them are Medical PhD holders.

Stop brainstorming about NCAHP draft regulations that do not concern medical graduates.

It's high time and the right time to demand for the recognition and registration with the Medical Commission so as we can practice as Clinical Biochemists and Clinical Microbiologists legitimately, the areas where we are trained and have expertise in.

Act wisely and swiftly. Your actions may either completely erase our identity from both laboratories and from the medical education in the system or may give us our legitimate rights and the deserving position in the system that were denied for decades.

PS: TMMA has been demanding for recognition of MSc Medical Postgraduates as per IMC Act 1956 and NMC Act 2019

🚨‼️Before we forgot about the recent CBI unearthing the biggest scandal in Medical Education, a nexus between NMC Officials, Ministry Officials and the college managements for giving permissions, and after silicone based AEBAS tampering, Fresh Attendance scam by Pvt Medical Colleges in West Bengal has come to light.

Chinese software, cloned SIM cards, eye blinking videos are used to mark face based attendance.

This is not something new but was already happening when we mentioned on this scam in April 2025 when NMC notified about shifting to Face based attendance that is reported from Andhra Pradesh.

This doesn’t happen without a nexus between the criminals from amongst the managements, faculties and the health department officials and the same is reported in this article.

In many of the medical colleges it has become SOP.

Why Govt. of Telangana adamant to provide quality medical education to Medical Students in the state?

The latest recruitment notification released by GMC, Suryapet dated 9 September 2025 denies eligibility for MSc Medical Postgraduate teachers despite clear regulations by the NMC 2025.

The medical education in the state and across the country is suffering due to extreme faculty deficiencies and especially in pre and para clinical (non-clinical) specialties such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology. Identifying the areas of concerns, NMC notified TEQ 2025 by increasing the percentage of appointments of non-MBBS Medical Postgraduate teachers i.e. MSc Medical Postgraduates (qualified from NMC recognized Medical Institutions) in the said departments to up to 30% so as to meet the demands of medical education.

Despite the clear regulations and recommendations by the National Medical Commission, the institutions under Govt. of Telangana frequently omit the qualifications of MSc Medical Postgraduates from faculty recruitment notifications thus leading to faculty shortages in the Govt. Medical Colleges.

TMMA has given multiple representations from time to time to the concerned officials in Telangana without much/ significant response from the authorities.

GMC Suryapet, Telangana released an additional notification on 15 September 2025 mentioning the qualifications of MSc Medical Postgraduates with PhD as eligible for the post of Assistant Professor only.

Who gives right to these institutions to restrict the appointments for MSc Medical Postgraduates to the post of Assistant Professor only?
when the NMC regulations find MSc Medical Postgraduates qualified for all teaching positions.

Such gross violations, the audacity to violate the regulations is empowered by the system itself which silently encourages these practices at the cost of students' mental health and the quality of medical education. Otherwise, these institutions cannot repeat such violations despite multiple and repeated complaints by us against them.

Why no Medical Associations or MBBS/MD Graduates never ask the NMC, the authorities to not permit the courses in Medical Colleges that do not come under NEET?

Why do they not ask to stop conducting MSc Medical Postgraduate courses in NMC recognized Medical Institutions including in institutions such as AIIMS JIPMER PGIMER? which is the root cause for their concerns.

Why do they keep teaching MSc Medical Postgraduate students in their departments and institutions, award the students with the degrees after examining them and then continue to protest against the appointments of MSc Medical Postgraduates in the Medical Institutions?

Why not protest against the NMC and against the institutions that are conducting such courses and for forcing them to teach the students in such courses?

With regard to the latest faculty recruitment notification of SVIMS Tirupati, omitting the qualifications of MSc Medical Postgraduates causing severe injustice to the alumni of SVIMS, President of the association wrote an email to the concerned authorities in SVIMS, TTD, the Govt. of AP requesting to look into the matter and take appropriate action immediately.

150 MSc Medical Postgraduates graduated from SVIMS between 2003 and 2019 who are trained to become medical teachers in non-clinical specialties and are suffering because of the discriminatory policies of SVIMS Tirupati and TTD against its own alumni.

KARMA works like a boomerang 🪃

Political associations of MBBS community cried Patient Safety, Quality, bla bla bla…. and targeted non-MBBS Medical Teachers who are in service of medical education for more than six decades, who, after proper training in Medical Institutions in their Non-clinical Medical Specialties with Medical Degrees awarded under Faculty of Modern Medicine and more importantly MD faculties being our teachers, were practising teaching.

We want to see if @IMAIndiaOrg @AIPCMA together will invite all medical associations and the medical students for Nation wide protests against the Govt the same way they protested our appointments shamelessly. "The institute that awarded the medical degree doesn't want the candidates" reads the title of the news article published in the @ANDHRAJYOTI newspaper today about the denial of eligibility for MSc Medical Postgraduates at SVIMS Tirupati for faculty positions in its latest recruitment notification.

In the United Andhra Pradesh, SVIMS and Dr NTRUHS both under the State Govt. trained and awarded MSc Medical Postgraduate qualifications to non-MBBS graduates in non-clinical specialties. Yet, citing the NMC regulations, Andhra Pradesh DME and SVIMS Tirupati have been denying eligibility for MSc Medical Postgraduates for over 5 years now.

TMMA has raised the matter with the then CM Shri @ysjagan Garu and the then Health Minister Smt. @VidadalaRajini Garu, has also filed grievance with the AP CMP on Public Grievance Portal, with no response.

According to this news article, 150 MSc Medical Postgraduates graduated from SVIMS Tirupati between 2003 and 2019 (course closed in 2019) and while some are working as Ad hoc faculty in the institute, many are working in Pvt Medical Institutions all over the country.

Dr NTRUHS also produced around 500 (the number maybe higher) MSc Medical Postgraduates between 2002 and 2015 during the time of United Andhra Pradesh.

The state Govt institutions which have introduced the courses specially to create medical teachers, have been practicing discrimination towards MSc Medical Postgraduates and there are none to ask this injustice.

Vice-President of our association @drrajeshpaluru is alumnus of SVIMS Tirupati, did both his UG (Physiotherapy) and PG (Medical Physiology) from the same institute. He is fighting legally against the State since 2022 for disqualifying him in the State DME recruitments despite having sufficient qualifications as per NMC.

We request Hon'ble @AndhraPradeshCM Shri @ncbn Garu, Hon'ble Deputy CM @APDeputyCMO Shri @PawanKalyan Garu, Hon'ble Health Minister of AP Shri @satyakumar_y Garu to kindly stop this injustice against a group of qualified professionals of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Please save the citizens of Andhra.
Please save Andhra.
Give us the opportunity to serve our State.
Let SVIMS graduates serve SVIMS.
Let graduates of SVIMS and NTRUHS serve the state.
