@bleacherbum099 I don’t think it’s necessarily a fear thing as they need more consistency, they need a superstar player. Pete I think will be an overall superstar but he will never get consistent enough offense. Someone like KB, D Lee, Aramis even. They don’t have that.
@dwest___ 1. New medical staff
2. New org hitting philosophy
3. Legit superstar player (instead of spending $20 million on the Jamos of the world, spend 30/40 million on someone that’s game changing, and spend less somewhere else.
4. I get the budget I’d rather see more $ on scouting/dev
Giving away a Kerry Wood signed Red Bill to celebrate the victory! Quote tweet #TeamRedBill to enter. Winner picked tomorrow at 1:20pm central. Must be following to win.
@craphole05 I think honestly they are going through a pitching one. That’s why there are as many injuries they have had. Unfortunately that is a process. The hitting one though, seemingly has been broken since 2017.
I decided to make a thread on my Cubs thoughts. As everyone else I am worried. But not even about this year, but the next few. And I’m not taking shots any 1 player, just being realistic. First let me say this, the issue right now is absolutely not a Craig Counsell issue.
@dwest___@bleacherbum099 Realistically though I don’t see how you can give up a lot anyway. Unless you are getting multiple years in return. Because even if this team does turn it around, do you really mortgage what little they have for a quick exit?
@bleacherbum099 I just mentioned that exact point. I would rather them spend 20 million less if that means revamping all of the scouting and development side
All in all the cubs need to be better with development even more than drafting. Because it’s becoming a huge problem. And we can always say Tom needs to spend more. He does, but it’s not happening. So fix it from within.
On average(at best) talent, and put that into development of the minor leagues. They need to be more aggressive. I have thought I liked Kantrovitz but I worry he did create those Cardinal teams that really looking back did not accomplish anything.
