You're going to see more F500 companies stop allowing spouses on their plans over the next couple of years
Large companies have become risk absorbers, if you have a partner with any sort of complex disease it makes way more sense to add them to the F500 company with richer benefits
They've been fine with this, especially when the labor market was tighter.
But medical costs are skyrocketing for various reasons (high cost drugs, hospital costs increasing, etc.). On top of that you're seeing tools that actively incentivize employees to SWITCH to their partners plan (see SIHRA as an example)
Because a concentrated number of high cost people tend to drive a large chunk of the medical spend, companies don't want to absorb those costs. And so this is the result.
Yet another reason why having employers so intertwined with healthcare is bad
The limiting factor in software engineering is no longer writing code. It's validating it. Every major shift in software development has required new infrastructure, and AI-driven engineering is no different. @rwx is the dev cloud built specifically for that transition.
I’m excited to announce we raised $12 million in Series A financing led by @hydeparkvp with angel investors including @theo, @bryan_johnson and Jenkins creator @kohsukekawa participating.

This Columbus AI startup helps dual-income households make sense of health benefits and possibly get out-of-pocket costs 100% covered. https://t.co/qPUAtqEDyT
Incredibly proud to partner with Liz and the @firstround team to build @healiahealth. We would not be here without her, the team, and their relentless support of our vision to build a better health insurance experience for millions of Americans.
My husband works at Google. I work at First Round. Both companies have epic healthcare plans, which means every year, we fall into the fortunate situation where we need to choose which plan to be on.
@realPriyangShah saw this was the case for the 30M dual-income families in the US, and wanted to make this experience a much better one. He thought: how can we make it easier for households to choose their plan, and once they do, what if the employer who doesn’t end up being chosen also chips in for out-of-pocket expenses, making it so employees really do get the best of both worlds?
Enter @HealiaHealth. We @firstround were lucky to partner with Priyang (an incredibly special, relentless, and brilliant founder) on his Seed round in 2024, and since then, he’s scaled the business to hundreds of customers and over 10K people, saving employers millions and families tens of thousands of $s per year.
Today, @reductoai is helping hundreds of AI teams ingest tens of millions of pages every month, and we’re excited to announce that we’ve raised an $8.4M seed round led by @firstround to continue on our mission of making human data LLM-ready.

And that's what make Mike Krzyzewski the greatest. Pulls out the press. Knocks Gonzaga completely out of its rhythm. Denies even one good three when they need two buckets.
