Almost every culture in the world: A taboo is something you DO NOT DO.
White "culture": A taboo is something you DO NOT SPEAK ABOUT.
Seriously evil, maladaptive shit. Anyone else see the problem here? It can't be just me.
Pleasantly surprised by a clear majority of people masked up at the grocery store. Confused by the near total absence of masks on store workers though.
The NDP showed me they were trash when Mulcair went pro-pipeline back in 20-whenever. And at this point I'm not voting for anyone unless they're going to dismantle the whole Canada thing and return the land. Haven't seen #LandBack in any platform yet...
I haven't put on the first patch yet. I would like a bare minimum comfort-level of being not sleep-deprived first. I'm already nearing dangerous levels of irritability.
The quit-smoking pharmacist called to ask how things were going. I said "Bad. My living environment is hell and there's nothing I can do about it because there's no resources for people like me in this province." It's a tiny bit of therapy to drop an honesty-bomb.
Canada was literally and intentionally founded as a genocidal kleptocracy. I like that people are starting to use evidence and reasoning to assert similar, but it really should be obvious by now.
All of this makes it very clear: our gov’t is more interested in watching the shifting sands of polling numbers than in tending the garden of effective public policy. And that should make it clear to all of us that we aren’t really being governed at all. We’re being played. /end
@April75Cruel I was recently told flat out that it's impossible for me (as an adult) to get an autism diagnosis, let alone services, in this province (Newfoundland). It's not much better elsewhere. If these kids don't get help now, they're going to have a much harder time finding it later.
Today is the day that I get to find out who around me gives a shit whether I live or die. Just one encounter so far and it made me so furious/hurt I was shaking. I'm really not digging the passive-aggressive eugenics.
Pandemic raging harder in Newfoundland now than at any point. Perfect time to lift all health restrictions and stop reporting critical information, of course. I'm so happy I came back home just for @CMOH_NL to decide it's fine if I die. #covid19nfld
@uyarakq @N8V_Calgarian I knew for sure when I learned how to teleport. The secret is you need to be holding an axe in one hand and a burning stick in the other and be spiritually ready to damage some heavy equipment. Who knew?
Are you the kind of person that makes assumptions about others based on a small sample of text and then projects that contrived reality onto that person? What do you get out of it? I am desperately curious.
@Joyhenderson78 My experiences calling out racism (as a pale settler/Mi'kmaq) range from shunning (best case scenario tbh) to retaliation (like getting kicked out of a halfway house). But always: the look of confusion and betrayal like I just turned into a wild animal. Still do it though.
@tagaq If it's any consolation at all, I saw some of my white ancestors in a vision once and they are *not* in a good place. (Not the fiery hell or freezing hell, but the endlessly dirty one.)
