How do you resign from an academic medical position?
I distilled my practical advice into 20 lessons.
One lesson: never threaten to leave without another offer.

I'm an orthopedic surgeon, 63, still training seriously, and after three decades in practice, tendon pain is the single most common complaint that walks into my office. More common than fractures. More common than arthritis flares. Most patients, and plenty of physicians, get one basic thing wrong about it.
Restless leg syndrome steals people's quiet evenings and their sleep, night after night, for years. For decades, we told folks to stretch, eat bananas, and take magnesium. That didn't work so well.
We know the mechanism and have newer treatments that actually work.
The pathophysiology of frozen shoulder

B) articular space & ligaments
C) shoulder joint with rotator cuff muscles, rotator cuff interval, long head of biceps

Some physicians I work with get offered the chance to buy into the surgery center where they operate.
It's one of the best wealth-building opportunities for proceduralists. But I often see it misunderstood.
Here's everything you need to know:
CMS 2027 proposal to cut E/M payment by 50% when billed same-day as a procedure will badly hurt patient access.
Practices will of course split visits - E/M one day, procedure the next - leading to many more appointments, longer wait times, patients missing second visits, more fragmented care.
This really burdens elderly/chronic patients who due to health and transport reasons need same-day evaluation + treatment.
Urge CMS to reconsider.
Med students, listen up! Today let me explain how to analyze a Liver Function Test (LFT) step by step.
Stop looking at isolated HIGH or LOW flags on a lab report. You need to look at the patterns. Here is how you actually read an LFT panel like a CONSULTANT 👇 (1/10)
High cortisol is the real reason you wake up at 3-4 AM.
It also shaves 5 years off your life — tanks testosterone, locks belly fat, literally shrinks your brain.
If I wanted to fix it without medication, here are 8 things I'd do every day:
1. No food 3 hours before bed.
@Rheumatology US-guided barbotage/lavage, short NSAID course and relative rest, then reassess clinically and with imaging. Surgery only if persistent symptoms or functional deficit remain, particularly given the associated tendon rupture. Beautiful case!

Chronic tendinopathies can be frustrating when rest, therapy, and injections fail to provide lasting relief. In this article, Dr. Michelle Bass explores how Tenex and TenJet use ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy to precisely remove diseased tendon tissue and help patients return to activity with less pain and downtime.
