🚨 Scientists have created one of the most detailed 3D reconstructions of a human cell ever produced.
The visualization combines data from X-ray tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and cryo-electron microscopy to reveal the astonishing molecular complexity packed inside a single eukaryotic cell.
What looks simple from the outside is actually an incredibly dense world of molecular machines, membranes, proteins and organelles all working together.
One cell. An entire microscopic universe.
@planet4589@mattlindn Thanks for sharing this. It’s great info. If map updated, then I would be able to share it with students and others who might feel offended their country line isn’t correct.
@dog_rates I’m Sharazad (Zahdi for short). I think I’ve got this figured out. When the kids are eating and watching movies from the couch, Mom won’t notice if I just quietly snuggle in with them.
@AshleyJudd Heartfelt sadness to you, Ashley, and your family. She was an amazing woman. Prayers that comfort and strength will come to you who will miss her most profoundly.
@ArneCarl@planet4589 I feel the 5 billion in government support and tax breaks to Musk ensures I’m helping to make all this possible. If you pay taxes, you are too.
Dr. Fauci is talking openly about late 2021 feeling more normal. Public health tools — social distancing, masking — will continue to be needed. There is no simple fix, just adaptation. Whatever Trump says tonite is just a way of ignoring the virus, again.

Hard to imagine a scene like this in a democracy.
And then the eye tattoo on the soldier’s forearm. The protestor with mask on chin. The backstories nearly as dramatic as the standoff.
Happy Earth Day from perspective of International Space Station. “We are all connected. Everything I do affects everything and everyone else” Astronaut Nicole Stott.
The memory of the ocean I saw from space sticks with me. It was pure blue. Today’s oceans are suffering the effects of human-caused climate change. It’s no way to treat a planet, especially the portion that covers nearly 3/4 of its surface.

3… 2… 1… LIFTOFF! After a nominal launch from @NASAKennedy, we’re now looking forward to the arrival of @BoeingSpace’s #Starliner, part of our Commercial Crew Program, on its maiden voyage to the space station.
