My advice to grad students starting this fall:
Year 1: thug it out
Year 2: trust the process
Year 3: lay low and find yourself
Year 4: you do you
Year 5-6: prove the haters wrong
First work of my postdoc is out today, in PNAS! Tldr, we found that metabolic activity in cancer cells disrupts the molecular clock

Deadline E X T E N D E D! Applications📄 are now⏳ being accepted for the 2024 MolBio Scholars program. For more info and to apply, visit: https://t.co/VNFZE8907u
AAAS is thrilled to announce our 2023 #AAASFellows! “This year’s class embodies scientific excellence, fosters trust in science throughout the communities they serve, and leads the next generation of scientists,” said AAAS CEO @sudipsparikh. Read more: https://t.co/k6XwOmKF9q
Thank you @ctmurphy1 and @titassengupta2 for taking this story over the finish line.
Read more to learn about how worms transgenerationally avoid pathogens from their natural environment until they forget, suggesting forgetting is just as important as learning
And it’s out in @NatMetabolism . A HUGE thank you to everyone involved in making this happen🙏🏻 especially @ctmurphy1 and @RKaletsky #grateful https://t.co/6uZd8FIHmG
My sleep-metabolism work with @amitaseh and the Sehgal lab is now out in Nature Neuroscience! 🎉🥳

NEW PAPER: Ever wondered why insects fly in all sorts of crazy patterns around lights at night? So did we! We set about recording flying insects to work out what's going on. I'll summarise what we found in this 🧵. Spoiler: We don't think they confuse lights with the moon.
@membranebiology I worked in retail. If you work full time for Apple in any capacity they will pay for some college under some circumstances (ie major dependent).
I could not recommend these programs enough! I went to @montanastate for my REU and it changed my entire career!
I am happy to answer any questions someone may have! #Science#undergradresearch#research
If you're an undergraduate in a STEM discipline interested in a PAID research opportunity for next summer, apply to Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) or similar programs! @AcademicChatter
Most applications are due in January/February 2021. A thread on applying: (1/20)
Written with clarity and wit, How We Age by @ctmurphy1 shows how recent breakthroughs in longevity research offer clues about human #aging.
Out today, grab your copy of this fascinating book:

I am so happy this story is finally out!
Congratulations to the team for identifying a conserved-physiologically relevant transgenerational inheritance behavior with a NEW bacteria species and NEW small RNA!! @ctmurphy1 @RKaletsky@titassengupta2@JonathanStAnge1@zgitai1
