Our debut episode is here! In it, we attempt to take a historical perspective to the American Empire.
We plan to publish two more episodes before the midterms, including a midterm preview, so please subscribe if you enjoy the content.

@ZaidJilani We did an episode about this! tl;dr is that Newsom needs Biden to win so he can run for an open seat. This means he needs Trump to win the primary.

@politicalmath Gavin Newsom in particular is invested in 2024. He needs Biden to win so he can run for an open seat in 28, which means he needs Trump to win the GOP primary. It's a fun incentive structure.

"'Disinformation' is thrown out by the mighty of the earth whenever they worry they're about to lose an argument... The word means, βShut up, peasant.β Itβs loaded with hostility to reason, evidence, and everything that makes democracy great." @mgurri

Remember when CNN doxxed a random guy on reddit that made a gif?
"Oh, don't worry, it will always be other people having their lives and livelihoods destroyed."
The scaffold was raised for none but you.
Just because a politician is being unfairly targeted by a D.A. doesn't mean his party must reflexively vote for him
That's the Mother of All Hot Takes, and it's wrong
You vote for the pol who is smart, disciplined and has the best chance of winning
After an unplanned hiatus due to audio issues, we've returned for some more of that classical liberal vs conservative conversation we know you love. The unexpected conclusion? Prosecute everyone!

@petespiliakos@John_Faker Our episode about this just came out. Threats of violence and extreme rhetoric ("trans genocide") are extremely normal. I think it's more symmetric than my cohost, but it made for a good conversation.

@dolan4ohio This was our opening episode for a reason. While we're fully conscious of the ways the American empire can and should improve, it's vastly better than all realistic alternatives (Russia+China+any historical hegemon).

@walterolson "Nobody ever finds different psychiatrists."
This is true. And the process of finding a brick and mortar local psychiatrist is miserable, humiliating, and expensive. No one is ever accepting new patients.
The team constantly crying about the looming danger of fascism regularly and gleefully reminds you that the government could murder all their political opponents in the blink of an eye
@politicalmath But being a "restrainer" in a lot of the small scale things (CIA coups in Panama are bad!) does not mean allowing Xi and Putin to be the primary powers on the global stage. Our hegemony is *so much* better than either 20th century great power conflict or Chinese hegemony.
@politicalmath I don't think people who remember the Cold War get how much people under 30 have never seen a positive use of American power. Until the UA war, my impression of our military was "cause famine in Yemen, blow up hospitals and weddings in the middle east." And we should stop those!
