Just a reminder that we have to design for learning to happen.
We can't just teach and hope it does.
We have to design ways to give the heavy lifting of learning back over to whom it belongs: the learners in the room.
My teachers wanted a clear picture of Tier 1 learning.
This was the result.
Something that allowed for a teacher autonomy & creativity, also providing years worth of growth impact built into the design to make learning happen & gaps close.
Included in my book.
Let’s stop using the word “homework” & “class work”, and instead call it “practice”. Stop categorizing learning activities by the location where it’s supposed to take place, & instead name it for its purpose.
“If a grade is to reflect what a student knows, an award of zero certainly does not describe a student’s knowledge accurately.” #TUPSLeadersinLearning@drjeremyc
“Five-year-old children don’t come into school looking for points, which means that if we believe our MS and HS students are motivated extrinsically, it is because we have taught them to be…” #TUPSLeadersinLearning@drjeremyc
As a teacher, am I obligated to reward a student on task? would he care if his peer gets the same reward even though he was not on task?@RHutch610@drjeremyc@TUPSchools
