How the Vatican helped legitimise the autocracy in Azerbaijan
Relations with Baku are emblematic of how the Holy See is trying to gain credit in the Caucasus as a peace mediator. With some privileged relations

#RubenVardanyan - many 🌐 high-level officials shook hands with him, they know the values he shares, the work he does to sustain Armenia. Over 500 days he's kidnapped and kept illegally in baku as prisoner of war. Use your leverage to put pressure and free him and other PoWs ASAP
Please see this important update on my client @RubenVardanyan_’s situation. One week later, his blood pressure is up to 140/11 and he has lost six kgs (13 lbs) & the #Azerbaijan military court refused five motions to postpone the trial and insisted Ruben attend, despite his being on the verge of passing out. #HumanRights
Several prominent human rights organizations have condemned police violence against protesters in Armenia.
These organizations have issued statements condemning police brutality and violations of free speech and assembly against protesters demonstrating against unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan.
"As previously noted, the habitual conduct of law enforcement officers remains unchanged: they continue to engage in unlawful and disproportionate use of force, illegal detentions, and violations of the right to liberty during the exercise of the right to freedom of assembly. The use of such methods by the police is the result of a longstanding policy of impunity within the system, leading to the use of violent force becoming the main tool of the police,” stated one of the joint statements.
Another statement by Reporters Without Borders declared, "Law enforcement targeted several journalists during the recent protests in Armenia against territorial concessions to Azerbaijan. Some were pushed to the ground, others beaten, and one journalist was even hit by a police vehicle. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls for an end to deliberate police violence against reporters. The Armenian authorities must conduct transparent and independent investigations into the police attacks against at least five journalists."
To date, the following organizations have issued statements that can be found on their websites:
- Reporters Without Borders (RSF)
- International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY)
- Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office
- Transparency International Anticorruption Center
- Protection of Rights without Borders NGO
- Law Development and Protection Foundation
- Democracy Development Foundation
Pashinyan's goons dragged Armenian reporter Ani Gevorgyan from Kirants village so he wouldn't have to face her questions or camera.
What kind of regime would you call this?
@robananyan don't be naive, NP is loyal to Kremlin, he's approved by Kremlin, SS handed over the title to complete handover of 5-7 regions to azeris but ended up losing Artsakh. Re march 1, who triggered and caused tragedy - NP. 2018 figures differs because of sectarians: Jehovah, 50's, etc
Many new bridges were destroyed by the Debed River flood yesterday, but the Sanahin Bridge, built in the 12th century, still stands. Its foundation on natural rocks has ensured its longevity.

The strategic mistake made by the Armenian authorities & intl community in recognizing the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan & neglecting the right to self-determination has led to full-scale genocide & new threats from dictator Aliyev

Thanks to all MEPs, who have initiated and supported this important reaction to #EthnicCleansing of #NagornoKarabakh. A follow-up mechanism should be established by the @Europarl_EN to monitor the implementation of the provisions of this and previous resolutions.
8 confirmed political prisoners from Artsakh in Azerbaijan:
Today, the Aliyev genocidal regime arrested former Presidents of Artsakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan and the current President of Parliament Davit Ishkhanyan.
Previously, the regime has arrested Ruben Vardanyan, the former State Minister, Davit Babayan, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Levon Mnatsakanyan, the former Minister of Defense, and his deputy, Davit Manukyan.
All of them are now political prisoners in the hands of one of the world's top dictators, with a rich history of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, corruption & many other mass atrocities.
They are being prosecuted simply for protecting their own people & fighting for self-determination. The rest are tales.
Spit on your guarantees of rights & security for the Artsakh people! @KremlinRussia_E@JoeBiden@eucopresident@EmmanuelMacron@NikolPashinyan
The same way America fed the Kurds to Turkey is how America will feed Armenia to them
When Turkey demands, America folds.
Sweden anyone?
Cyprus?
Given Armenia having nothing much to offer, it’s idiotic to think this pattern of behavior will be any different
Thank you @CNN for highlighting the tragedy that is currently unfolding in #NagornoKarabakh .
People are experiencing a #Genocide today in 2023 and desperately need our help.

🟥 Turkey and Little Turkey, Azerbaijan need to be held accountable for the crimes they’ve committed.
The Lemkin Institute will never allow today’s world leaders to forget their complicity in destroying a 4000 year old people and civilization in Artsakh.
There’s no “genocide prevention” in the US, the EU, NATO, or the UN, despite all the trainings, symposia, books, and speeches. We had hope that in this one instance, this perfect storm for Genocide Prevention, there would be that one courageous voice in a position of serious power who would do the right thing.
But, of course, we have no real leaders in the world today. They have no fear that they will one day be targeted by this horror, so they don’t much care. They go to sleep in smug comfort. It’s really up to the ordinary people of the world to unite and bring an end to this never ending lust for power and resources that destroys everything in its wake.
No ordinary people benefit from genocide. Not one ordinary person in the world benefits from the heartbreak of the old man in this photo. Even if their criminal leaders tell them they do, they don’t. What did they trade for this great chance to participate in genocide? Freedom? Dignity? Rights? Transparency? Good governance? Morality? All of the above? No, they do not profit.
But there are many people in global capitals, at BP, in governments who are already reaping the benefits! And wow, what benefits! Resources, access, power! Who cares if a 4000 year old civilization is lost forever?! Armenians be damned!
We must all unite to change this equation — and we must do so fast. #prosecutecomplicity
Expect imminent lockdown of #Artsakh & monopolizing the information space by #Azerbaijan. Evidence of atrocities & crimes against humanity to be blacked out. Insistence on immediate entry of int'l actors, #UN, credible int'l media & NGOs to monitor sit'n on the ground is vital
