Let me clarify something:
I’m not trying to police anyone or claim “this is real journalism.”
I comment when I see misinformation, and I also call out when things are done well. That’s sharing my perspective based on experience.
This isn’t about style, it’s about not posting addresses, relatives, and maps during an active situation. That impacts real people who didn’t sign up for it.
I didn’t call anyone out directly, but if that’s happening, it’s a problem.
And “public record” isn’t a free pass, there’s a difference between information existing and amplifying it in real time to a large audience.
There are real-world consequences to that, including doxing concerns and potential legal exposure. That’s the part I’m trying to educate people on.

@peni2493@DivAdventures It is a misdemeanor. If he wanted to, he could have taken him in. In AZ you don’t have to be booked for low level misdemeanors, you just sign saying your promise to appear. Criminal speeding is the same. People usually don’t go to jail, but it’s still a misdemeanor crime
@druser@gp_juist@BadDobby7@rod1610965 Court would assess things like widespread recognition, significant media coverage, and ability to access media channels to respond to criticism when deciding if someone is a public figure. A&T check these boxes by being associated with the case.
@gp_juist@BadDobby7@rod1610965 I believe they’ve passed threshold of being public figures to the point where harassment is a lot harder to prove. Defamation as well. Not impossible, but A LOT harder. Gotta love the American legal system
