@deenprogress Also, I like to add that my understanding is that the foundation of marriage is love and mercy. It's not where one goes into expecting it'll break (except where Allah wills). I also think it's the resp. of her waliyy to be sure she's fine in case there are issues n5 hers entirely
@deenprogress I think the issue of financial independence for a woman should be around her having a skill and a job and maybe not necessarily around her not supporting where she can. But, I agree it's a man's responsibility to cater to the home needs. Just trying to get the explanation right.
@deenprogress Ma'am, you care to explain what financial dependence is in line with the discussion on him being obligated to spend on her? I'm a but confused when people say they don't want to be financially dependent and yet say responsibility of spending is on the husband.
You don't have to be told what your job is/isn't. There's so much building around people's personal understanding and this won't help us. This unfortunately affects so many other professions.
Recently, I've seen conversation around medical practice in Nigeria and one thing just stands out for me. Lack of/not keeping to standards of practice. There should be a set of common language that everyone understands while boundaries should also exist.
Another graduate among my children, with a First Class Degree
All praises and thanks are due to Allah, the Almighty. The happiness of a father knows no bounds when his children achieve their dreams. Parents are indeed architects and building engineers of their children's future. With the help of Allah, they build a foundation for success that will last a lifetime. Seeing our children make progress in life fills our hearts with joy and excitement.
Allah has blessed me with three graduates among my children, in addition to many nephews under my care. The first graduate completed his degree in Computer Science in May 2021. The second graduate earned an MBBS degree in 2023. Yes, a medical doctor.
I am delighted to share that this June 2025, I am blessed with another graduate, this time in International Relations, who also graduated with a First Class degree, topping their class.
So far, I have two female and one male graduates. Next year, I look forward to another graduation, in sha Allah.
Consciously, I always encourage them to excel academically and remember that while degrees are important, they are not enough in today's dynamic world. We need to engage in reskilling, upskilling, or cross-skilling, among others, to continue to be relevant and successful.
My constant prayer for my family and children is: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our spouses and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the pious."
Allah wadu' barka.

It's always interesting to see how some Non-Finance and Accounting Execs give orders on what they'd like to see in their reports:
A madam once asked me to prepare a report with the following instruction:
"Please, give me a report showing our weekly Cash Sales, Expenses, and EBITDA."
As a young accounting and finance professional, what do you think is wrong with the above request?

When ALLAH warned us not to be like those that forgot ALLAH and HE made them forget themselves, I took the Ayah for granted. Until I found myself deep in the quest for this Dunya and forgetting Γkhira.
Quran is a sure guarantee for anyone that adheres to it. A good life in this world, a comfortable stay in the grave and a favorable decision on Judgement Day. May Allah brighten our lives with the Light of Qurβan.
