It was an honour to deliver Keynote address titled “Prof Karama Memorial Lecture on Nurturing Young Innovators & Researchers: Leadership for Sustainable Human Capital Development in Healthcare” during the 7th KAMMP KENYA Conference 🇰🇪 very impressed with our #Muslim medical practitioners for productive engagement.
Moving forward I proposed:
1. The Prof Karama Young Innovators & Researchers Fellowship. A national flagship programme for 50–100 young professionals annually — offering mentorship, seed funding, placements, and applied research projects.
2. Kenya Translational Innovation Hubs (KenTiH).
Anchored by @IDeAL_KEMRI_WT @KEMRI Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) @nacosti @KENIAupdates @nrfkenya partnerships, with county hospitals; and universities.
3. National Digital Health & Genomics Curriculum.
Mandatory across medical schools and CPD programmes.
4. Strengthened global partnerships.
With international and regional entities such as @WHO @cdcafrica @IAEATC and leading global research centres @Roche @ScienceRI_Kenya @kammpofficial
5. Islamic Bioethics & Leadership Lab within @kammpofficial a modern space for ethical guidance, publication support, and culturally grounded medical leadership training @OIC_OCI

If the @MOH_Kenya had budgeted for medical interns and posted them as per #ImplementCBA last year, there would be no #DoctorsStrikeKE & the public health facilities would be fully functional & there would be 1000 more licenced doctors, who would be helping with the disaster management efforts currently urgently needed.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

For MOH the question is whether this failure to plan is deliberate or inadvertent.

Is there a bigger scheme to collapse the public health system?
Maybe this is the qiestion we need to answer in view of the way the way government is circumventing obvious health issues.

Dr Rilwan Adan: Using insulin as a way of managing diabetes is life changing. It has its side effects like causing low blood sugar which can eventually lead to hypoglycaemia, comma and death.
