@ABeeWords It’s such a good article! It’s the sort of piece which originally got me to start reading RPS like a decade ago, though now I get that reporting more often from smaller sites not owned by IGN
It seems like @nbcsnl has switched to automatic captioning. They’re much faster now but way less accurate. I hope they go back to the old (presumably human written) ones, because these are terrible
@itme24655120@onionweigher Where’d you find the date the screenshot was taken? I only see the date the screenshotted person posted their tweet originally
@ag_dubs Wow I just found the DM logs from when Benjamin Coe figured it out what was happening and the offending lines of code. It was in the middle of a rewrite of the whole registry https://t.co/f0m5PbWLCN
@ag_dubs Honestly it was really considerate of them to include the bug. I wasn’t feeling great about my own abilities at the time and it made me feel a little better
@ag_dubs I remember going to the npm IRC in ~2014 because I couldn’t authenticate. It turned out that having a colon in your password at the time would result in everything after the colon being ignored. I assume something was doing auth = str.split(“:”); name = auth[0]; pw = auth[1]
@crossslide@eevee @filmobjective I think saying “the art was intended to be shown on CRTs” is objectively accurate for non-handhelds games of the time, but it should be obvious that that doesn’t have any bearing on what the artists might have preferred to make their art for
@moyix Typecasts are so dangerous. If you’re lucky someone just casts to unknown (universal type) first and then does runtime checks to narrow down, but people often skip that :/
@americanwombat Though it’s hard to decide, because the calendar also features this illustration of the scene from The Silmarillion where the Man, Beren, stumbles upon the Elf, Lúthien, dancing in the forest in the moonlight.
This is exactly how Tolkien imagined it.
@AwakeBPS @curcuas@BostonBTD@EdforBoston@jfh@universalhub What do you mean by “English please”? That isn’t even a sentence.
It’s obvious from context what they were saying. Don’t be a dingus.
