I wrote this to understand how player development, markets, and incentives interact in the American system.
There is no shortage of talent but rather a undeveloped domestic market of fragmented leagues and governing bodies with misaligned incentives that break player pathways.
Your Future Self Loves—You.
If I can do one thing for you in 2025 is for you to be reminded of this more often—if ever.
Not a vain “love” but a proper love of who you are to your soul.
My goal is to build YOUR AI to remind you of this perspective.
Very few of us know the people at the tip of the spear. We can make the biggest impact by uniting against the handle, making that behavior far more taboo than it is now.
Still can’t believe Arsenal were able to take advantage of Chelsea’s dumb player hoarding strategy and UEFA predicament to grab one of the most talented just entering prime attacking players for a below market fee.
Buzzing about it.
I think about these charts quite a bit. If you want to know why people often freak out when you talk about crossing party lines, they're operating under false impressions about the other side. People consistently think their opponents are more extreme than they really are /1
So many weird events in Declan Rice red card
1. Is it even a freekick to begin win?
2. Veltman doesn't take the freekick from where he was fouled
3. Veltman threw the ball at Rice who is walking away.
4. The ball is still moving as Veltman goes to kick it
5. Veltman kicks him
Every single sponsor that hopes to sell soccer to this country over the next 40 years needs to be doing whatever it takes to get the right manager in charge of the USMNT as soon as possible.
Perspective: China’s spy balloon has ~ the same surveillance as their satellites in space and it hovered over Montana.
China’s TikTok controls how 140M Americans spend 1.5 hours a day, not to mention knows our location, income and interests.
What’s the bigger security threat?
@adamkeys_ I almost think of it as an Elneny level signing for our forward line. He can reliably start for a game (or even a few) and keeps the level of play when coming in as a sub… but he is MEANT to be surpassed in quality by other, higher potential players in the squad.
@adamkeys_ There are two ways to raise the quality of a squad:
1) raise the ceiling
2 raise the floor
Not sure he raises the ceiling, but he certainly raises the floor. We need more squad depth now, even without Europe. There’s a right price for him.
Is there a better commercial for Rank Choice Voting than what is going on with the Speaker's vote in the House ? The current system, from primary to generals to speaker voting, empowers the extremes to the expense of constituants. Time to change
No one realized it at the time, but the accident at Three Mile Island cost thousands of lives. Not directly, but by making nuclear power unpopular in the US, and thus causing us to switch to more dangerous power sources.
This is what happens when you have boomers writing about @SBF_FTX like he’s some fund manager that got unlucky. No, he committed massive fraud and was able to do so by ingratiating himself with all the right people. This article’s white glove approach proves that point
